I doubt that any Sajhaites had gone through similar problem, so it would be best if you ask the USCIS folk. Ask how long would it take to get a new green card and if you have time (before your interview), get it. Why take a chance?

You'll be charged with negligence offence and fine of $1100.
Your dog will be prosecuted and barred from being petted anymore with you in your current residence.
And, your interview will be looked upon suspiciously and be procrastinated without further notice.
My advice for you is to buid a time machine, go back just in time when your dog is about to have that great moment and stop it before it happens :D
