Don't consume too much salt ,drink plentyful of water, don't stress yourself too much ,do some breathing techniques (ramdev yoga) ,
consume less alcohol .
btw I'm not a doctor ,but giving you advice on personal experience!!!!

like cool kale said, avoid eating too much salt. that doesn't mean you can eat anything that's not salty. check for sodium content of the food and avoid anything that has high amounts of sodium, like ramen, chips, etc. drink a lot of water but do not drink too much because too much fluid intake also increases blood pressure.
Eat a clove of garlic every morning, it dilates your blood vessels and thus helps lower blood pressure. Do light exercises like jogging, sit-ups regularly, don't do heavy weight lifting. Mild exercise produces nitric oxide which also helps dilate blood vessels. Quit foods with high fat content and cholesterol. If you smoke or drink, you better quit it before it's too late.

Jantarei is right ,when buy any products check sodium content and avoid more sodium content products ,even same products with different company have different sodium content level. Junk food is also one reason !!! i always try to prepare my own food ,i try to avoid mac D or either TacoBell or subway blah blah blah ...So it;s better if you can prepare your own food with everything less ,less fat.,less salt, and yes Don';t drink water untill you burst out !!!!!

wow, nobody wrote a word about fruits and vegetables!!!
Book by Andrew Weil, M.D called 'Eating Well For Optimum Health' is often considered by nutritionists and athelites alike a nutritional bible. He focuses more on foods that can be taken as medicine. It's the eating habit which is responsible for all your good or bad health. Even the most feared depression and hypertension have direct link with what you eat though it sound psychological disorder.

1. If you are on instant need of help, you should immediately consult your doctor and get on treatment.
2. You should follow the golden rules of eating habit for your case 'blood pressure':
-Increase fruits and vegetables
-avoid salted and salty foods, such as processed foods
-eat garlic regularly, one to two cloves a day
Cook your own food, or any other hand-cooked or atleast food on which people have put their time,effort and energy, while doing so, you are not only eating that food but also taking in the energy put on by them, just think you're intaking great source of energy to fuel your body while eating your food. Thinking positive stuffs while eating your food will greatly enhance your absorbtion level as well as I call it spiritual training of how you should it.
I don't know if you care, you should immediately get into 'Juicing' fruits.
Just keep aside all your excuses, and do it now.
If it's too much of a hassle, then I've nothing to say but , 'One who doesn't care about himself cares Noone'

no, french fries falls under junk food category.
On a serious note, Potato is edible form of root but mostly consider it as vegetable, so be it.
You need to read whole lot of nutrition book, be a guinea pig yourself and start experimenting how and what you feel after eating certain food. I did that to me, and I stand by what I wrote above.

btw, I've had this condition where doctors told me that surgery is inevitable and thats the moment, I refused to go under knives. As I spent day and night learning alternatives and guess what, I've become master of my health and know whole lot of stuffs about any ailments possible. I learned during this that what you eat is what you are. Even a slightest problem in our health is caused by what we put into our system. So, just start taking note of what is causing your problems to your health and soon your tracking will pay you off. I know there are some enemy food which don't suit me, I call it 'enemy' because it does more harm than better. In medical term, you can say 'allergic food'. The food itself is magical and cures if not prevent many diseases.
Main Mantra to follow is: 'Eat to live, not live to eat'
