Mustang caves uncover 3,000 year old human remains

The Department of Archeology (DoA) has reported that they have uncovered 3,000 year old human remains from the caves in the Mustang region. The DoA team along with international experts have found evidence of thousand of years of civilization in the caves. They have been carrying out research in the region since 2008.
According to the researchers from the National Geographic Channel and the DoA, the dead bodies were buried in the caves along with utensils and jewelry dating back to the pre-history period (before the beginning of the Christian era). The also recovered Ancient Tibetan Buddhist shrines inside the caves.
The shrines decorated with painted frescoes include a 55-panel depiction of Buddha's life, thousands of pages of religious texts written in the Tibetan language, stone carvings, paintings and idols related to Buddhism. According to the DoA, people have been living in the Mustang valley since 10,000 years.
