Mr. Sandeep Tamang aged 27 living in Melbourne Australia was presented to the Western Central Hospital last year for 13 days, including five days in ICU with a severe cardiac problem. He was critically ill with rare type of viral infection in his heart and doctors actually gave 50% chances of his survival. He somehow survived but this year recently he was admitted to the hospital again with a rare type of tumor in his adrenal gland called 'pheochromocytoma'.
According to the doctors the tumour is life threatening if not removed quickly, so he underwent a major operation on August 24th 2011. His first operation which was laparoscopic failed due to excess bleeding so doctors had to re-operate him with an open procedure leaving a large incision in his abdomen. He was hospitalized for 24 days including four days in ICU. He also underwent anaesthetic procedure i.e. for minor operation of his kidney stone.
Doctors have quoted his medical condition as rare and unfortunate. Now he is on recovering process and is not allowed to do physical activities for at least two months which means he cannot work. Being only a temporary resident in Australia, he is not eligible for Medicare so he has to pay the hospital bills out of his pocket. His total hospital expenses this year sums up more than $30,000.The hospital bills of last year was around $16,500 which he was still paying on instalments.
Mr. Sandeep Tamang did not come in public last year and was struggling to pay his hospital bills. But he agreed to come public this year under the recommendation of some Nepalese social workers and his friends. We are trying to raise money through donation in order to help him. We may not be able to raise enough money to pay his bills but we may be able to help him with his personal expenses like rent, telephone n electricity bills etc while he is not working.
Each of your help counts. Alone we cannot but together we can. I request all my fellow Nepalese and Non-Nepalese to join hands with us in this cause. Please donate and help. Everyone of you can make a difference and your help will be greatly appreciated. Also please pass this message to others. Thank you.
