HI Everyone, here is a situation of one of my friend. Good help and suggestions are needed urgently. His 1-20 is expiring from a four year college soon and he is trying to transfer to TCC from another state after 5 years of studying in US. He was suppose to graduate in May but could not. TCC told him he needs to take THEA. He has already studied here in US for more than 5 years. Does anybody know any college which will issue him I-20 without any hard time. also, he just wants to study in that college for fall so he will go back to his university to finish one class that he did not pass to graduate in Spring. CAN HE STILL ENROLL IN SOME COMMUNITY COLLEGE EVEN AFTER HIS I-20 IS EXPIRED IN A WEEK. Please give us good suggestions for cheaper colleges around Forth worth and Dallas. Thanks.

i think he can just stay on work permit and go take that class or take it over the internet. you can still apply and get an opt even if u have to take one or two classes as long as you international student advisor is okay with it.

You can join KAPLAN test preparation center. I think that will be good than joining HCC cuz you can finish off in 5 weeks and they'll issue I20 for like 6 month. All the best.

Can you pleas give me the address and number to the Houston Kaplan college which will issue I-20. Also, how can they issue I-20 without being full time studnt. If anybody has done that please let us know. He is willing to join Kaplan for 5 weeks and get I20 for 6 months. So that he can go back to his University and graduate in Spring.

how is he going to join kaplan? has he finished his undergrad to do gmat or gre? or is he going to take esl after years of schooling? if he hasn't flunked the class, by that meaning has at least a 'd' he should just move on. most universities consider d as a passing grade. employers may look at the over all gpa but not each classes he took. but i am not an expert on this matter. i am just raising some intersting questions. i think he should talk to his ipo advisor asap and talk about possible options for him. good luck

May be I don't understand the situation correctly but I don't get why he is trying to transfer now, given that his I-20 is expiring in a week and it is highly unlikely that he will be able to find any college and get a new I-20 issued in a week. Why doesn't he just get a renewed I-20 from his university, take the summer off and then take 12 credits of random classes in the Fall and take that one class in spring and then graduate. If the issue is that the tuition for Fall at the University is going to be huge compared to a community college, I think he should just try to borrow money and deal with it. After he graduates in spring, he can start working full-time and pay the debt off. Also, to me it doesn't make any sense why that college is demanding that he take the test. If he has a copy of his TOEFL score, he could try to show it to them and see if they can waive that requirement (I know his TOEFL score has already expired but it might be worth trying). I am sorry if my comment doesn't help your friend. Hopefully, other people will have good suggestions. Good luck to your friend!!

Let me unfold the info you have provided to begin with, had I comprehended to what you are trying to say - Your friend is now in the 4 yr school for which he got visa while in Kathmandu embassy?
- He completed all English and Math classes.
Now, why is he transferring to TCC ? Can not the school where he is graduating from extend I 20 for one more semester since he failed in one class and since he will be graduating after that? Talk to the int'l advisor about it. Since in US "BOLNE KO PITHO BIKCHHA". Try to persuade the advisor why he could not pass that class. They will be able to help him. Don't think about Kaplan, Community Colleges or any BS like that. and Tell him to apply for OPT. Thank you
