Has anybody recently gone to Canada or Nepal for H1B visa stamping? I need to get my visa stamped for the first time. I am planning to go to Nepal by end of this month(January) but just wondering if it's better to go to Canada for stamping then to Nepal. Would be great if somebody could share the experience about current situation.

I did my stamping from Nepal in the month of November. While going
there, I too was in the same boat as you currently are; so, I can
understand your dilemma. But everything went well and I got my visa
stamped in the fourth day I landed to Nepal.



I did tremendous research before going there; consulted with my
experienced friends/employer/attorney, browsed through different
websites and forums,... I were able to gather lots of information but,
at the same time I got more confusions too because of the contradictory
recommendations. Some were positive toward going to Canada and other
were recommending to go Nepal.



Following are some of the reasons for you to go to Canada:

i. Even though it is quite difficult to get the appointment (you gotta be checking the consulate site all the time), you'll get
to know the date in advance and be able to plan your trip accordingly

ii. Unless you get into any problems like case prolongation due to
request for supporting documents and so, the total cost is gonna be
comparatively less and that too, in shorter time span

iii. In case of request for any documents or other legal matters
regarding your employment, you can satisfy them much more faster and
easily than if you were in Nepal



Following are some of the reasons for you to go to Nepal:

i. USCIS recommends to have stamping from the home country

ii. Even though you cannot take appointment for interview from here,
the interview date will not be too far from the day you reach Nabil bank

iii. In case your case is prolonged for whatever reason(s), you'll have your home to stay; friends and families to support you



As you noticed, going to Canada and Nepal, both have their own positive
and negative aspects. Its you who has to decide where you should be
going because you know your situation better than any other person.
Even though its good to collect information, your case is gonna be
specific to you and your personal circumstances; others getting visa
stamped or rejections either in Canada or Nepal shouldn't have any
implication to your case, that's what I believe.

I am not a lawyer/legal expert to give you precise legal advice to your
issue. But to my knowledge, a person can hold multiple H1Bs at the same
time, but, should be on single payroll. So, you MIGHT NOT require to
disclose your association with the employer (new) who has filed your recent H1B.



I had submitted the followings at Nabil bank:

i. DS-156 form

ii. DS-157 form

iii. 2 copies of latest photos with configuration as specified in the consulate website

     (Even though the website is mute on wearing glasses, please don't, if any; Nabil guy will make you take it off)

iv. $131

v. A copy of bio-page of the passport

vi. A copy of Nagarikta



I had taken the following documents with me while appearing for the interview:

i. I-797

ii. Letter from Employer confirming my association with them. (It would
be better if information on the job, salary, education, company
background, etc. are well elaborated)

iii. Recent Paystubs (2-3 months)

iv. Tax statement document for last year

v. Reference letters from the previous employers

vi. Academic, institutional and other certificates



Those are the ones that I can remember now. Though they didn't ask me,
take your photo at your client site in separate envelope (in case if
they ask you; they are totally unpredictable and we have no say at all).



Regarding H4, I may need your consultation in the near future.
