Dear Shajha Users,

One of my friend was in OPT from September and he went to Nepal in November before getting a job here. He, now, has got new I-20 from another University for PhD. Now, my question is whether he needs to get another VISA to come back US or not? His VISA from last time will expire after 2 years from now. Did any of you have same problem before or know about it. Any suggestions will be highly appreciated.

Thank you!

Your friend does not apply for a new visa. He can enter with the old visa. One of my friends did the same this fall. He started a PhD program in Fall 09 and entered with the visa issued as an undergrad that was valid till July 2010. So you can reenter with the same visa if you have a valid I-20. It is just like transferring schools.
