I know one Gewali brother from Houston deployed in Iraq. Do what your innermost heart tells you but never compromise yourself with the worldly pleasures.

It's personal choice dude. Some like it and some don't; I had good time but made some personal sacrifices too. It's not true that everybody ends up in Iraq and Afghanistan in their first tour of duty but the chances are high if you join the general infantry. Do some research and ask questions before you join the Army. Good luck!

Thanks Guys, really appreciate your inputs. i was called by recruiting (Sena) as i had applied online couple of days ago. I was really despaired by the current situation of international students in US. No matter how hard you try they won't let you reach your goal very easily. It seemed to me the only possible way out!! However, I am not gonna go for it. Why? I have had my a$$ fucc3d to get Bachelors degree from US. Now with little more I am hopeful to get MS /PHD. If they got to deploy me in Iraq --I definitely have tell lie to my mom. So better be truthful to my mom than be US nagarik.. NightElf bro, Its very easy . apply online and try to contact them by phone. tell them your status... Thanks again guys, now I understood that it is much easier to live and do hard as a Nepali than engorge myself not to be one.

youwanpras, Its good that you have made your decision. I do like your conclusion. You are right, its better to work hard day and night than to lie to your mom. However, I am thinking maybe you can negotiate a deal where you dont have to be on the front line in afganistan.

youwanpras bro, if you are a hard working person, you'll definitely reach your goal. right now situation is really tough especially for an undergraduate student. if you hang on to this rough time, good things will surely come later. i think master/Phd is a very good plan. the army thing looks really attractive when in tough time but reality will definitely hit from behind you once you enter that area. remember, either you get citizen when you get a bullet or when you finish your 5 years service and in those 5 years, your citizen card is pretty much useless. this is just my thought. I 100 % agree with Dolphin. Who knows what happens in 5 years. It took Soviet Union just 6 years to Collapse. In 5 years we can make hell lot of change.

Unless you are keen about armed forces, I would not suggest anyone take this route just for the status. You would not only be dishonouring your fellow soldiers, you will be deceiving yourself by committing to serve while your sole intention is anything but service.
