As far as i know, you can unlock your iPhone in two ways:

You can either buy something like a TurboSIM or RebelSIM which goes into the phone along with any other network SIM and allows you to operate on any network, or you can perform a software unlock.

it should be enuf to help you out - it hass all the free downloads you'll need..althought i would recommend doing a little homework before getting any firmware updates coz i am not sure if they are out with an unlock for the 2.2.1 frimware...just make sure before of it before you start anything...
