hey guys....plz help me file my taxes. i have been in US for more than 6 years and i've always used turbotax to file my taxes even though i knew i wasn't suppposed to coz it was easier that way and got more refund. Back then in college i really needed those refund money. You all probably know how it is. But i now i've graduated and been working for a company who has filed the GC on my behalf. I don't want to screw up my chances to get the GC because of incorrect tax filing issues. Now i would really like to know what would be the CORRECT way for me to file my taxes...do i use the form 1040NR? or 1040NR-EZ? or something else?...Do i file this on paper? Where do i get the forms? Is there any websites where i can file this electronically? Plz help me guys...would really appreciate it!

Since you have been in the US for more than 6 years, I guess that you will qualify as a Resident Alien. Check here:

In other words, turbotax should be fine!

We can not assess your past filing status ( 1040 NR or 1040), Even if you want to correct it , can go upto 2005 to amend. Mistake is done and do not know we can reverse and make it correct.

For 2008 you will qualify to file as resident. Most tax software are giving free federal efiling. There are other tax software cheaper than turbo tax.  . If you do not need to file state, then it is free.
