Hi Guys, To those guys who have watched this much hyped english movie based on Mumbai (India)..."Slumdog Millianaire"...... I liked that movie though. Its script is very fast and interesting. There are thousand more beautiful hindi movie songs than "Jai Ho". But is it worthy of so much praise and prizes ? I think westerners love to see poverty in third world countries. Oscar lost my praise when a worst movie "American Beauty" got Oscar long time back. What you say??

I agree with you on "Slumdog Millionaire", but I liked the movie "American Beauty". Absolutely no comments if they are Oscar worthy or not.

Slumdog Millionaire I felt the presentation was good but not such a blast storyline. Even I felt the the child actors were fantastic than the others. They were looking absolutely like the childrens in the slum but the other artists took all the praise.. I dont know why this girl lathika( pinto something) took the credit while in my opinion the baby lathika was superb than her. Just my comments

I also think the best actor in this movie is youngest Salim. But all other actors took credibility. Adult lathika is not so much praiseworthy ditto for adult salim.

Blame the fans and critics who hail Danny Boyle as a neo messiah of English movies. I agree with mxyz about the more than necessary adulation Slumdog Millionaire garnered over the month. Dan overdid with the poverty-portrayal of India. Also, the story plot looks no different than any other Manmohan Desai flick. Cindrella story no longer comes true even in the the land of Desis, the plot of destiny and drama in the wake of movies like Dil Chahta hai has long become arcane, not everybody lives in fool's paradise. The pivotal part of slumdog however was, the way he reaches out to reply to the questions by recollecting incidents in the retrospect, that is indeed laudable. But then why loathe American Beauty? It was one of the best movies in the history of Hollywood. Agreed, I lost credibility in Academy award when Denzel Washington was awarded oscar for "Training Day" (great actor he is, but he was clearly outperformed by Russel Crowe in 'A beautiful mind' that year), but American beauty depicts the crux of American life and it was very well made. I understand that 70 percent of Nepalese youth, who watch hollywood flicks want movies like 'Fight Club' or 'Blow' to win an oscar, but belligerently sublime acting is not always regarded as the highest epitome of histrionics. Kevin Spacey is a classy actor, and fares well amongs critics than Pitt, Depp, Farell and Damon.

I agree with Jet Favre about A Beautiful Mind. This is the my most favorite movie from Hollywood. I did not watch Training Day. So no comments on that.

i think it is not worth taking all those so called awards...in my opinion dev patel has played a much better role that freida pinto..she dun have any roles at all....i dun know how and why is she getting praised?? Instead of them the two little kids should have get all the credits...the one who played the first part of the movie as a kid...jumpin in the shit..shouting amitabh bacchan and still handing to keep the pix of bachhan safely..that was the most hilarious part of the movie..i simply luvd them..wish to see those kids in more movies..

Mr. mxyz. why in the world u think American Beauty is the wrost movie. It is pretty good movie. may be u need to watch it again. However, Slumdog Millianaire is just overly overated. Once again your judgement like " I think westerners love to see poverty in third world countries" is completely wrong.

American Beauty was an absolutely amazing movie! The ones who didn't like it must not have gotten the message that the movie wanted to deliver. Slumdog Millionaire was vastly overrated. Why the hell is Anil Kapoor collecting all the accolades and making appearances in every single award function? His role was absolutely comic. During the entire movie, he's portrayed as someone who's got a lot at stake - should Salim win the contest. A. Kapoor is outraged on a number of occasions and at times, he intimidates Salim into quitting but at the end of the movie, he's all claps and handshakes which was absolutely bizarre. The movie must have received all the hype because of its portrayal of Indian poverty. Don't rich audiences love to see how poverty is portrayed?

Slumdog Millionaire has given the westerners the real view of India. Its out of track than regular Hollywood flicks. Danny Boyle tried to sell "a curry" and have become successful. I would wonder, other people try some more movies with "curry flavour". Regarding the acting, I was surprised when I saw Freida Pinto and Dev Patel was nominated for BAFTA. They have done fair acting but much to get nominations. I would not however question BAFTA. The acting of baby Salim and his brother are far more attractive tham of Freida and Dev. Any movie that wins Oscars should be equivalent to "The Golden Pond" in my view, but these days you do not see those sort of movies or the actors like Jane and Henry Fonda. It would be a disrespect to such actors and movies, if every Tom, Dick and Harry start winning Oscar for nothing.
