Hello Sajha friends, I ran into a difficult immigration situation so seeking for help and suggestion. My mom has a US green card and she visited US couple of times. She went back right before COVID came - which is almost over two and half year already. Because of COVID and other family situation, now she changed her mind and does not want to stay long in US to maintain green card. She would like to visit US every now and then to see us and her grandkids. Has anyone dealt with such situation? We were thinking to surrender her green card and apply for visitor visa? Not sure if it is even possible and if they grant visa or not??

too many people do it and its perfectly fine . its not a wise idea to hold an elderly person for the greed of green card . let her do what makes her happy at her old age . my neighbors mom did same , her son got her green card and she couldn't survive first year . eventually she is now on multiple visit visa and make visit at her will not by force . . never overstay follow rules and you will be fine . personally im a 2 time dv winner , i decline my first dv in 2018 and now im in the US enjoying life with zero issue .

My parents also does not want to stay here for long time so we gave up green card . Planning to apply visitor visa soon. By the way, this is not a difficult situation. Its simple family issue.
