https://www.npr.org/sections/thetwo-way/2018/01/31/581544841/u-s-renews-temporary-protected-status-for-some-syrians On Wednesday, the Department of Homeland Security announced it is renewing that program, known as temporary protected status, for an additional 18 months. Syrians can re-register if they have resided in the U.S. since Aug. 1, 2016, and have been physically present in the country since Oct. 1, 2016. "It is clear that the conditions upon which Syria's designation was based continue to exist, therefore an extension is warranted under the statute," said Secretary of Homeland Security Kirstjen Nielsen in a statement.

Of course they will. They wont renew nepal's tps coz it is a beautiful country, or Nepali people are nice or Buddha was born there but Nepal has only few tps beneficiaries compared to Haiti or Salvador. These nation's extension will keep govt's humanitarian agenda alive.

Nepal's TPS will most likely be renewed. The conditions in Nepal haven't improved (outside KTM) so there is a reasonable basis for an extension. Also, fewer recipients than Haiti and El Salvador and that Nepal's extension will help in projecting a humanitarian image of the US government like khaikhok points out (good balancer for not extending Haiti/El Salvador TPS). New DHS chief also seems to have better familiarity with Nepal's earthquake situation. We shall find out in less than 3 months. If terminated, we should still get 18 months to leave the country or transition into a different status.
