I am in F1 visa in USA since 2 years. I used turbo tax last year to refund my taxes. But I now found out that Turbo tax is only for US residents. Some of the university sites has also posted warnings about violation of immigration rules if we use Turbo tax. I want to switch to Glacier but some of my friends said that there is high probability of being caught by IRS if we switch to Glacier and I may be fined for Tax fraud because I applied previously through Turbo Tax. Does anybody have any Idea regarding this issue? Thanks in advance.

All student should file 1040 NR which is for non-resident alien . Did you file as a non resident alien or 1040EZ? If you did not file 1040 NR , either stick with it as you have filed. If you want to correct it you have to amend your previous filings. Yes iRS will caught you if you file 1040 NR if you had filed previous 1040 EZ.

Kale34, File amended version of last two year tax filing to 1040NR as you cannot claim credit from US government. Turbotax don't have option to file 1040NR.
