42-year-old Yolo County man has been sentenced to 378 years in prison for repeatedly raping his adopted daughter.

Ajay Kumar Dev of Davis was convicted in June of 46 forcible sexual assaults on the girl between January 1999 and December 2004, starting when she was 15.

He also was sentenced Friday for witness tampering, after he went to the family's native Nepal to try to talk the victim out of testifying. The girl was visiting Nepal to attend a sister's wedding.

Dev worked for the State Water Resources Control Board as an engineer. Yolo County District Attorney Jeff Reisig says Dev and his wife brought the victim, a distant relative, to live with them in 1999.

Investigators say the victim terminated three pregnancies that resulted from Dev's rapes.
