Pls sojonepali u are acting as if u never worked illegally when u were a student. Dont tell me that u didnt work for more than 20 hrs to pay yr tuition fee and to support yrself. Every nepali humble or not comes here to pursue "american dreams". Sorry but u sound like a sour hypocrite..

Teena, No I have never worked illegally. I do not want to ruin Nepali reputation. I can show you the proof of my working hours and tax pay. Contact me personally for that, if u need proof.

Let this thread be a warning and lesson to all those Nepali who are working illegally.

If I become hypocrite when I say people working illegaly should be punished, then yes I am hypocrite.

Common dude, don't act like a mahatma here. There are over 12 million illegal immigrants in the US and I am assuming at least half of them are working. There is no question about reputation here. And like Teena said, 99% of Nepalese students (you probably fall in that 1%) work illegally, in cash or social security. You probably came here for a Masters Degree, got a GA/RA job, paid in-state tuition and didnt have to go through all that. Or, you won a DV lotterey. Or, your parents are filthy rich in Nepal and can support you. Now you tell me, how many people fall in that category. Probably 1%. What do the rest of 99% people do?

Its easy to come here and lecture about reputation but it is very difficult for vast majority to follow what you did.

Someone created a thread and asked for some suggestions. If you have any, please do so...otherwise, don't show typical nepali mentality and say "Khuchhing".

My two cents.

In fact sojho nepali is not sojo, he is very smart. He might have been frustrated of not getting job in todays crunching market. And he expressed his feeling in the form of being sadhu. He thought these illegal workers hijacked his job.

Sojho Nepali,

Some people are lucky to find assistantship or scholarship not all. There are more than 80% of nepali undergraduate working off-campus. The only difference are some are using SSN and some are not. Only few get caught who are really unfortunate. Learn to respect the difficulties with which Nepali folks are surviving in US. Very less , blessed with corrupt parent (s) can make it self-financing throughout undergraduate study.

My good wishes is with your friend,GRUNZGURKHA. Suggest your friend to be precarious. Unfortunately, I don't have any suggestion at this time.

God bless!!!

I would suggest he contact a lawer and try to further present this  case as a political asylum candidate and worked illegally becasuse he had no option.....BUT he paid taxes so he thought he was legally working. On his self defense he can make the case to apply for political ASY and claim that he cannot go back and didnt know of the refuge status(ASYLUM) untill he was advised by a friend.  and he is sorry for his actions and is willing to pay the penalty which is about a grand to have worked without a permit, and blame the commie regime for his reason to escape Nepal as a student....Show some affiliation witha anti maoist party. ANd if he returns to Nepal he is in Grave danger for his life........... Hope this helps

What is the need of many teen agers to comet to USA? can you make me clear? Do they not have good colleges to pursue their undergraduate education back in Nepal? What a bad trend they have entered in Nepal  and unnecessary pressure they have given to many parents? So they should be punished for working illegal. I can never support who goes against legality. This is a good lession. Unless these teenagers get into trouble here in USA many parents will not be relieved. It should be a lession for those teens who are planning to come to USA for nothing. Go and observe in front of US embassy in Nepal ask the crowed why they want to come to USA then come and justify your statement.

qrishma....what the heck are you talking about???? I believe its none of your damn business to tell anyone where they wanna go or live. why dont you go back to Nepal......14hrs of no light..no law....trouble in everycorner ..is that a suitable place for a stable education, job, business or a normal life. Hey if Nepal was stable, peaceful, and lots of chances to be a developing nation without the contant YCL threats, Bandhas, chhakajams, sortage of fuel, gas, food, electricity, roits, lawlessness. DAMN who would leave Nepal if oppertunities were in plenty HUH?..... Young teenagers can easily turn rebels and join bad company.....be Bullied or be the bully....and many MEN...YOUNG MEN..will readily choose to be the bully and join nasty gangs, drugs and all in a country with no FUTURE so far. Listen you smart one....NO NEPALI WOULD LEAVE NEPAL IF THINGS WERE RIGHT...............I will go back to Nepal if peace shines down on nepali soil once more...I will take my experiences and help Nepal develope......BUT AS OF NOW I AIN'T A FOOL OR I AM NOT READY TO BE DEAD OR EVEN BE A MARTYR TRYING TO OVERTHROW THE LEADERS WHO ARE DRIVING THE COUNTRY TO A SURE DEVASTATION......and you criticize Nepali teens to seek a better future who are avoiding a FAILED SYSTEM??????.........call me anything....but right now....ANYWHERE THAN NEPAL IS GOOD, PRODUCTIVE AND SAFE.

Girishma, why they want to come to USA? can they make me clear ? this is the most funniest question I've ever heard. Its hard to explain you   in few lines ..do some research.. right now nepal is the worst country on earth to live.. worst than many african countries. In terms of lifestyle, sanitation, law and order, healthcare, public transport.. bla bla. Its always good to seek a better future ..and  studying abroad. Your stupid question only applies to those nepalese who go to countries like IRAQ, kuwait, malaysia..etc who invest all their energy in forign land for low paid, unhealthy risky jobs and still dont make anything.

baru why do they (students)not wanna return Nepal after finishing the studies bhaneko bhaye ramro suninthiyo.

It is possible that Girishma want teenagers to finish education first in Nepal and then go elsewhere. But, it is always better to start from the beginning if the working/studies environment doesn't suit as in present context of Natabad, Kripabad.................... blah blah in Nepal.
