Well since you people brought this issue, i got admission and scholarships ( not the full but substantial) in both univ. and they both  happen to be ivy league FYI.I got one in NY area and one in MA. If you are not dumb you can easily guess. ( till now i did not mention becaue i did not want  to) You are welcome to cross check. I just have some priorities over some school not because of their quality becaue of my personal situation. My younger brother lives in NY and he is having hard time paying his tuition. We are not rich. Nor he has good health. He works in subway. Univ which is at MA has offered me little more funding but  I wanted to stay with my brother. and in nepal, people tell you many thing, about US and visa so I contacted my brother, he also did not have any clue about it. this was the reason behind that posting. now that i got the research grant plus one fellowship so now i do not have to pay for my education.

i was getting bored staying alone in apt so i came into saja. I did not know about you have personal connection. lauredai, ranii sent me one email to me " malai chinchu bhanera". Only one girl that i know in US  who works with my bro, yes in  queens in NY. So, I replied her if she is working in NY. She said no. then i humbly told her, if you come to ny do come not with any bad intention. the reason was i was missing home and nepali people too..so i get excited when i comeacross any nepali.

Some inconsistencies I have seen here... Maybe people here might clarify that for me:

 Kathcat posted about his inquiry about universities on 6-22-08 (Fortunefaded claims). So I am assuming he is not even here in the US now. But Lahuredai claims Kathcat worked as a janitor- He accepted the fact himself in his previous comment that he is a janitor. So is this even possible? Schools don't start till September. How can he be here so soon. Even if he were here, grad students with fellowships don't do janitorial work. Trust me here. OR was Kathcat saying he worked as a janitor in Nepal? In that case, it makes sense. Kathcat, do you mind clarifying it so people know you are not a faker?

And I dont think KathCat harrassed Rani with a deluge of PMs, or anything like that. Its no big deal there. We don't need to see your emails and personal messages.

My apologies to KathCat.My bad to think that he was just another proud 12th grader coming out of highschool claiming to be the best. If you have really done well in Bachelor's level and got admitted to Harvard/ Cornell/ Columbia, then good job!!! The man deserves some respect.

Now that doesnt mean you are all good and right. You made some terrible generalisation about Xaverians and you need to realise that you were WRONG. This is important. If you are a man of honor as you implied in some of your posts, you need to apologise to all Xaverians for what you wrongly said. I know we all make mistakes. Its no big deal.

And somewhere in your posts, you talked about how Xaverians call themselves 'we Xaverians.' Its just how we say it. It makes us proud, a family. It doesnt mean we hate students from other schools or that we are superior. I think it was important to clarify this too.

I would like to recall my first posting for this thread. Can anyone tell me if I was being disrespectful and impertinent? Here is my first response to KathKAT's comment in this thread :-

There is no doubt about your intelligence that you were able to rank first in the class and  awarded with the scholarship for your further studies. There is no reason to get debased for not studying in the eminent schools like Xavier's, Budalinkantha and so on. However, I personally think that we need to learn more than just the contents of books. A good citizen should be ready to unravel any trammels he/she may encounter in his life. In our life we might come up with the problem where our knowledge from the book makes no sense. Therefore, we need to have knowledge in broad sectors to think critically, analyzing the problem and solving it.  St. Xavier's, Budalinkantha ,etc.  provide enough skills to horn student's potentiality in academic as well as non-academic field. I still remember that when I was in Xavier's, one of our Father told us in our very first day of the class "if you are here just to study and score distinction then you are in the wrong place".

“Dedicated to excellence, social service and leadership” is what Xavier’s motto, not “study hard and score distinction”. That makes  Xavier the best among the prestigious ones  than other myriad schools mushrooming in Kathmandu.
