The roots of real love lie deep within the soul. Linking it with the Supreme Soul (God) makes in an eternal source of unlimited, unalloyed bliss.
What we often regard as love is, in one form or the other, an affection or attachment with the people or things which we feel as our own. But this binding, howsoever strong that may be, with the perishable entities of this ever-changing world can’t be long lasting or consistently blissful. The instances of change like – demise of near and dear ones, separation from the beloved, loss of hard-earned prosperity, or tainting of self-prestige, etc break one’s heart; the same world which used to be so loving, appears an ocean of dole and depression in these tragic moments. This demonstrates that the bounds and strength of ‘worldly love’ are no more stable or stronger than a castle of sand. Love with the mortal beings, with the momentary things of this world is therefore not true love. True love is a perennial source of limitless joy… How can it ever be a cause of sorrow?
True love is a spiritual feeling, which surrenders the individual self in the Divine Supreme Self. The individual self, the soul is immortal, sublime, consciousness force, so its love could only be with the sachchidanand (eternal, omnipresent, ever-enlightening, ever-blissful) – Supreme Soul.
- Shriram Sharma Acharya
(Akhand Jyoti, July 1945)

Thanks for sharing this view. But sorry friend if you are also carrying this view in your head I can't agree with you anymore. I don't have any problem if you have affection with god. But If you are saying we don't need to love each other in our society or in our family, I am not going to listen you. My perspective of love is it should be devoid of any expectation, either you love god or people or nature. We shouldn't hope anything in return. That's what I called true love. If we love someone with hope of something in return and that doesn't happen that will hurt us. Don't you think we need to love poor and disabled? What about animals? nature? mountains, rivers, lakes, flowers? Don't you think we need to love them? None of us is immortal and yes life is short. But if you devote your life to god, you could be happy but if you love other people without any expectation that will bring smile to many faces and that will give you my friend peace of mind and that is the meaning of life and being alive. No offense but I think you need to read Laxmi Prasad Devkota's 'Yatri' instead of Shriram Sharma Acharya's 'Akhanda Jyoti'.

Geology Brother, I applaud your opinion and agree with it wholly. I just posted the above thread to attract people towards an important but long ignored dimension of our existence - spirituality. I have learnt from Shri Ram Sharma's teachings that the entire world including our parents, sea, river, mountains, everything seen/unseen, etc is a part of God or God himself. Hence, to serve them would be a true worship of God, and this is what you advocate above. Service to one's family is one's duty, but that duty should be extended to everyone around; at least an effort can be made. We may not be able to clean up the environment on our own, remove other's sufferings; but at least, we can chant "sarve vanantu sukhina", and some "shanti path", even this will help spread bad waves.
P.S.[Now I am not preaching anything here, but this is a science. When we chant a mantra, the waves goes into the sky. (Energy can never be destroyed), and hence resonate. Since these are good waves, they help purify the bad thought waves emitted by other people. These mantras work like chemicals to purify the enivornment both physically and spiritually.]
Brother, take this as no offense. Again, I apologize if this sounds offensive, but my journey did start reading Laxmi Prasad Devkota's books and hearing his songs, and still I hear them. But my journey didn't end in just that. It has taken the goodness from everywhere, and most recently, Shri Ram Sharma has become the ocean of knowledge/guidance/divine light that I have come to. When mother Ganga flows from the Himalayas, she does not just stay there; she journeys down through the valleys and reaches the ocean ultimately. Devkota, Mother Teresa, Dayabir Singh Kamsakar, Gandhi Ji, etc are truly source of inspirations from which one can learn, but the learning should always grow, and not just stop with them.
Here's what one needs to understand. If one just worships idols and offers incencse to an image, he gets nowhere even after years of such ritual. Trueness in worship comes only after that one offers his service to the society. This service must be selfless (Karmayog), must be done with a feeling of devotion to the Lord (Bhakti Yog). And yes, it is VERY ENOUGH even if you practice what you believe above (service to helpless, poor, family, mountains, seas, etc); that is what true love to God is all about.
If I have offended you in any way, please forgive me. I am writing this thing with all humility. But people do say, I ramble a lot. I guess I am just an old man who likes to preach a lot.

Well risalsa brother (You are old!! I am not too young either ),
Without further argument, I agree with you on a point that motto of our life should be
सर्वे भवन्तु सुखिन:
सर्वे सन्तु निरामया: ।
सर्वे भद्राणि पश्यन्तु
मा कश्चिद्दु:खभाग्भवेत् ।।
If you are on this way then my best wishes are with you!

Well, my fren I am worried if God really exist. People in Japan and around the world worship god but why in the hell those innocent people have to suffer. So tell me who/what is God? and what does he do(His duties & responsibilities)? why isn't he there when people are suffering?

Giordano Brother, your question is really big, and I'm not sure if I would be able to fully answer it based on my meagre understanding of nature and how God's operates. Please watch the following video. You can skip the first 3 min 30 seconds of it; the rest of it shall help answer your query.
It is nature's law to recoup itself from stress, pressure and pollution once it reaches a limit. Just like a sick person fights back the microbes infesting him through his immune system, in a similar way, nature tries to adjust and restore herself when she is overly exploited. It is a law of nature. Today's time is a very special time. We are running in an emergency period- emergency in the sense that the whole world is so heated up (global warming), polluted (water/air have become unfit for consumption) that nature is taking drastic measures to restore herself. If you think about it, it is all because of our actions. The fate of the earth that was predicted for 2050 AD have begun to manifest in 2011 itself. With each so-called scientific development, Mother Earth is suffering hugely.
The video is just a tip of the iceberg. Please remember that this video was shot well before you or I were born ( I believe during the late 1970s). During then, people didn't even know about global warming, atomic radiation, and all the crises that we are facing now. This sage predicted it right then, saw it coming. In the other segments of his video, he explains very well why the earth has to undergo some destructive patterns. If you have time, please watch those; they are very enlightening.
From my understanding of what he said, a new era of righteousness is coming. For this, mother earth is preparing herself, and in the process, intense austerity performed by the Rishis dwelling in the Himalayas (in subtle body form, not physical like us) will play a due role. The nuclear powers, nuclear reactors, pollution in the air, water, land, random/unmanaged urbanization, etc has to be destroyed; for a new era to begin, a new foundation will be required, and that foundation must be strong; must be built from scratch.
While it is unfortunate that the people in Japan are suffering, our prayers are with them. It becomes our responsibility to pray for them. But these disasters will be seen in other places too. Wherever there are factors that may hinder the development of a new era of righteousnes, those places will suffer some damage; but nature will try to make those damages as minimal as possible. Please watch the video posted below, remember, this video was shot some 30 years back, and the sage had already seen these things coming.

Friend, Nature is God himself. The mountains, rivers, ocean, hills, street, and everything seen and unseen is God himself. When Lord Krishna showed his form to Arjuna, he showed this entire universe as his physical body. So, there's no difference; it is all Him, and it is his consciousness that is prevalent everywhere. The electricity (electrons flowing in power lines) is him, the Prana Vayu (oxygen you breathe) is him, Mata Ganga (water you drink) is him. Everything is him. Hence, to protect/conserve/upgrade nature is a true worship to him. Going to temple and chanting some prayers, but at the same time disturbing his ecology/ecosystem is a mere hypocricy.
