I have seen thread for phone card to call Nepal, so am starting new thread Why big No to some phone card to call Nepal to express our negative experience in using any of the calling card we have been using to call our home country Nepal.
These are the calling cards i am using and the problems i had faced with these cards so that can be aware before using them (think twice or more before using them).

1. I have used this card for around a year, before it used to give 65mins for $4.99 but its now changed to 45mins/$4.99.
2. The voice/ sound quality is worst then before (either one of you form the calling or receiving side doesn't hear the sound properly)
3. It takes lots of time (some times more th en 15 minutes to get connected). Always getting message saying something like "The receiver sides phone is not working, or are allowed for distance call".
4. Every time we call our balance get deducted.

I faced all the above mentioned problem in this card too ... some of other are
1. The call get connected but some unknown person picks up the phone speaking some unknown language (at least unknown to me may be Spanish)
2. Every other day of using this card the balance decreases rapidly may  be around 50cents to $1.

Frens these are the problems i am facing on the above mentioned calling cards that i am using. I can see on the thread titled "phone card to call Nepal" for the option of calling card and skip those which gives problems as i mentioned above. If any of you remember i was the one to add "ringmycountry" in the phone card to call Nepal thread but i would like to say that that calling card's performance is worst now.

So if any of you are having problem in any of the calling card you are using to call home (Nepal) other then above you write something about it.

This way we can help each other as all in sajha are doing ...

If I am understanding correctly, it is not the phonecards that are to be blamed but NTC has bloced all VOIP calls. But why should NTC do that? People should be allowed to receive phone calls from other countries. Oh I guess it is like one of those things like you know having to pay in the airport to catch a plane, having to get work permit (shram sticker) to work in other countries, having pay to climb mountain  etc  etc... All bullsh*t, we live in a free world

i used to buy SDI ASIA QUEEN paper card from the store I used to work. The price was $1.75 for 2$ card and $3.75 for $5 card, that is 75% of the card value. That was one of the  best card I have used. Connection ma ale ale problem huntheo, but voice quality was good and balance unnecessary ghatdaina theo. Now a days, i m missing that card.

Good price and good quality are mutually exclusive matters when it comes to phone card. "BOSS" phonecard is what I use when I have to call Nepal. For $5, it gives 10-15 minutes and a very good connection.

I guess it also depends upon the time / day you call, as it says in most of the phone cards, that everyone might be calling on weekends or evenings or mornings, so its very hard to get the connection at that time and even if you get one u'll hear loads of noises, so may be you guys want to consider this too, coz i've seen some phone cards which works fine at one time and doesnt work at all next time.

5$ ma 10-15minutes isn't that very expensive bro ...never eared about such an expensive card ... some of my frens were sujjesting pingo card and yetitel card ... i have never used those so no ideas ... i am going to try those next as they are not in my Big "NO" list ...

Calling from NE give 40 minutes if connected and in one straight shot for $2.00 only. You Mooroons, check you local grocery stores for prepaid cards and their rate. Buy one of each you think well. I used to buy from online $5.00 only 30 minutes if connected and in one shot. You are still in the same sh===t as you were in home. Do some home work, some times you will get 10% discount too, in Indian grocery store. I am trying to understand why you folks bragging about, keep your brain, hands and legs moving otherwise you pay more as for your rewards.

If you do not want to pay more, ask you friends and family to call you, give your best time to call. If you are not working that will be a big favor to your parents saving money not making any call. From Nepal , you can call RS. 2 per minutes, that is more than 30 mimutes per $. Let you be proud that your friends  attemp to call you. Check them. You can buy a phone that is used as phone using MS messenger. You have options use them rather expressing your utter.

i use rebtel for quite a long now and trust me it might sound expensive but isnt really tat expensive....it doesnt have any extra charges or service fees or anything..and it doesnt matter you call for 1 min or 20 min...the price will be deducted according to the minutes u talk...

the problem i see with major cards is if you dont finish it at once, next time yr minutes are largely deducted...and then they have this service fees and other taxes that really sucks...
so i think rebtel is the best...the price is like 20 cents/min though ...but still i think its the best especially if you call several times and for short duration...
so try it once guys and ya for the first user they have this offer that if you credit yr acct with 10$...they give u extra 10$ and also extra 10 mins which is sweet

For bay area(mainly Oakland) California central, Filipino kai are the best ones. A $5 card normally gives an hour plus minutes.

I think Himtel is best. Usually they give credit if your card is not used and did not gave the said minutes. Its three years I am with Himtel and its working good for me . All I call is Pokhara in landline and 5 dollar card give 35 minutes . I think its ok for Kathmandu too.
