As a factor in the regular season he led Mavs to 67-15 franchise record While as a non-factor, Mavs floundered 2-4 with the Warriors. Since MVP is judged as per regular season's performance ..Dirk will for sure get the award although he might wanna tell Nash, "here you go stevie, you deserve it"

I got the gist SunnyDev.... Its a shame that West is so loaded against pathetic East...other than top 3 seeds in the East, all others are terrible......Detroit, Chicago, and Cleveland....I think whoever wins the series between Suns and Spurs will win the Championship......

just saw the thread "nowitzki proved why he is mvp".. who ever posted that must be eating his words... either way, i guess he ll b the regular season mvp... this quote was also funny "DronaCharya watching mahabharat ( lame analogy, but you know what i mean). " gotta love the religious quotes.. either way, when u talk about mvp... all i have to say... is take that player out of the team... and what happens... dallas, take dirk out... they still win 50 games... same thing with the suns.... now... if u think about it... take duncan out of san antonio... and the spurs are nt even making the playoffs....

Sleepyspur, I doubted that Suns will win around 50 games or even make it to playoffs if Steve Nash is not there. I am Spurs fan as well and taking Duncan out of our team is something I have never thought of. I won't say we will make it to the playoffs without him, but certainly we will win more games than Suns without Nash. Doesn't mean to say that Duncan is less valuable than Steve. Parker and Manu can make difficult and crucial plays for us, but looking at Suns without Nash for last couple of minutes in game one. They need Nash to win games.

Makveli, point well taken... i have to admit that i have not really seen all the games... but the suns team is loaded with talent. more so than the spurs... ofcourse chemistry wise you can argue that the spurs are better since their top players fit in perfectly for the particular style that they play in... but you have to admit phoenix is a more talented team than san antonio (without nash and duncan in their respective teams)... back to the last minute of game 1... dont forget how much rest nash takes like he did vs the lakers and barbosa was going out of control... u have to admit oberto and elson dont really compare to barbosa coming off the bench... and, i forget which game it was exactly.. but there was a point when the lakers were up 10+ and barbosa came in and put the suns up... so its just speculation... maybe this will convince u... spurs are my favorite team... but i ll be the first to admit that parker is a regular star, and so is manu... but they are not great... now, for your claim that the suns would be worse without nash... that would mean that amare and marion are regular players and not the GREAT players that everyone keeps saying they are... so pick your poison... which one is it? nash 's value or amare + marion's over-value?

one more thing about nowitzki that i gotta say... nowitzki often is called the "closest thing to larry bird" ... that is really blasphemous... let me make myself clear... nowitzki will never EVER be even half the player that bird was... first of all, just coz u are tall white and can shoot, does not make you larry legend... its a crime to even use nowitzki's name in the same breath as larry's... for example, if larry was facing the good for nothing warriors, he would literally raped gsw by posting up all the smaller and quicker defenders that nellie was using vs nowitzki... but again, i digress with the whole larry bird comparison... i just want to let you guys know, what a great player would have done vs gsw in nowitzki's shoes... those who are comparing nowitzki to boozer... that is like comparing apples to oranges, so that topic does not even deserve a response... nowitzki is a great shooter, the biggest matchup problem in the nba, and again a great player... however, i have to wonder, why does nt a 7ft tall player who is reported to be so versatile... try to post up on smaller players... that does not make n e sense... i can go on and on and on.... but i hope u guys get the point.. and i hope my damn team wins :) the last thing i want is to eat my words after all the crap i have been saying about phoenix :)

ALL SAID AND DONE NOWITZKI IS MVP HE MAY OR MAY NOT HAVE DESERVED IT BUT ITS OBVIOUS THAT THE VOTES WERE NOT BIASED .. IT MUST HAVE ALMOST BEEN THE SAME GUYS THAT VOTED FOR NASH LAST COUPLE OF YEARS THAT GAVE IN THE VOTES THIS YEAR IT WAS NOT A ONE MAN'S DECISION.

okay if they had voted for the MVP after the playoffs had already started ..yu think the results would have been different ..possibly but if were to talk abt fairness it should not be cuz MVP is based on an individual's performance in the regular season

Sleepy Bro: I have similar things to say about Dirk, as you so aptly put it....he is no way close to Larry Bird, and ain't better than Boozer in so many things....Just coz you are white and can shoot does not make you a Larry Bird in the making....Nice words there from you..I simply paraphrased.... I think we need to look at 2 things on how Nash didn;t win the MVP this year, rather than why Dirk won/deserved it more. I still think MVP is the wrong award for the wrong title. I think they either should name it the best player in the best team. Most valuable Player? Dirk or Nash??? I bet you, without Nash, Phoenix is more like Golden State Warriors.....Take him out, and the entire team suffers....But, in Dallas, you take Dirk out, you can easliy start Stackhouse and they still win 50+ regular season games... I could have made an argument on why Kobe deserves the MVP over DIRK.....take Kobe out of the lineup in Lakers, and they are a lottery team at best....KObe pushed Lakers into the playoffs....granted Phoenix made it a brief post-season... So, My MVP candidates were, Nash, Kobe, then Dirk and Duncan....Good for the NBA, I don't have the VOTE....Or else, Kobe might win every other year !

Oh, another thing I forgot to mentioned...I heard on several sports talk shows, nationally, and locally that the voters simply didn't feel like they should put Nash in the elite group of winning MVP award 3 years in a row...mind you, only a handful have done so......I am not saying that was the only reason, but I can see why that would have played some role on Nash not winning, rather than Dirk winning ! So, as they kinda eliminated Nash from the MVP running, DIRK was their obvious choice, as most of them are Kobe haters, and simply would not vote for him...thus, by Default, Dirk was the winner !

Nash, Nash and only Nash Was Dirk not responsible for making his team mates better this year..how do you account for the improvement of Howard, Terry and Harris
