"light skinned pretty female "
This is a typical South Asian attitude. A dark-skinned girl is ugly, whereas a light-skinned girl is beautiful by default, even with pock-marks. Don't blame ya, buddy. I liked the story though.

So what exactly did that fair and lovely lady do to Senor Galt? I still don't know.

" I would never blame her for what went through that night. My respect for women escalated even more that day."

The last line feels like a cop out for the author. Is that a escape hatch for the guilt associated with the pleasure from the experience with a lady almost old enough to be his mother? At the least it sounds hollow.

Great story-telling though. Keep them coming.

Rudrajyu,
Thanks for visiting, but it was just a portrayal of difference in complexion, had she been a dark woman among whites, I would have mentioned her nonetheless. But yes, the proclivity of majority of south Asians is towards fairer skins, I should be lying if I do not acknowledge it, I am a Nepali regardless.

Lootejyu,
Our own imaginations inspire us here, not anything else, but thanks for the compliment, although undeserved. Yes, I went to Rourkela, not the best place on earth I wanted to be, but certainly one of the better schools in the nation.

Riten,
I admire your curiosity, but it has been long years. I only remember my constantly accelerating heartbeat and blurred vision throughout the episode.

Sajhauser jyu,
It was just a depiction of incident, and was not should not be considered rhetoric. I mentioned her just for the heck that she was fair, I would have mentioned her anyway even if she belonged to any other color.

Imi,
True....but read this line you must have overlooked.
“I was felt all over, either by coincidence or by deliberation; I would debate it all my life”. I am still debating, maybe it was an accident, maybe she actually felt me, maybe I am a pervert, it does not matter as far as the ambiguity remains, I just narrated the situation to the best of my knowledge.

Flippy,
You make my day with your replies, you always have time to read my nonsense don’t you? But this was anything but classic.

Camoflagged,
I have been in mixed emotion all these years, regretting sometimes that I did not reciprocate, and repenting over the compunction that I did not stop her. As far as the next day went, I was simply sleepy.

Hyaaa,
First and foremost, I would like to apologize for my harsh words towards you in my earlier thread irrespective of who started the debate. That was puerile, and perhaps I was still not used to be at the receiving end of sharp tongue criticisms. I regret for that crossfire.
The context here, however, is slightly different, I am simply narrating what I have seen over the years, maybe I am wrong, but I cannot change myself overnight, typical south Asian creed that I belong to. As far as the career incentive is concerned, I would have wanted to be a creative writer or an artist or a tennis player, ambitions that would never see daylight now. Thanks for visiting.

Sunnydev,
You are the first person to ponder through my finishing line and I wonder why no one mentioned about it. The bottomline is, women have desires too, and we should appreciate anyone who brings it out not by premeditating, but by the spur of a moment. Perhaps it might have been premeditation, but I still respect her mettle to do so. I take is as yet another breaking of glass ceiling, and I admire the nerve of a common housewife to feel a man despite social obligations. Women have been a subject of sexual aggravation over many years, in every part of the world. If the men often get away with it, then why can’t women?

Aznshawty,
My dear ever popular and charismatic sajha luminary, I am flattered by your reply. But the use of term desperation however sounds derogatory, I respect her as yet another Paarijat.

Katrina,
Which school are you referring to? BSAM or Rourkela??

Ss74k,
Thanks for visiting, I enjoyed your inquiry about loote.

Deepjyu,
Thanks....but I enjoyed bhav – smriti even more.

DWI,
I wish I had such patience, temperament and time to write a fiction. Further, I am not best suited to write a fiction, I have lightyears to go....by the way which batch were you in?

Gidilat,
A cop out to some extent, true, there were moments of bliss along with feeling of guilt too, but the teeter totter tilted towards guilt. Read my reply to sunnydev, if it explains something pertaining to your question.

yeah...Rourkela is a good school...in fact most of the REC's are better schools of India after IIT, BITS-pilani and Rorkee.

until now, i used to think that for being a technical person, i will get an escape to justify my poor writing skill. after knowing that you are a technical person yourself, i have to find another escape...darn! i feel like getting drowned in one tea-spoon of water.. hehe...

John, I think, I have been away from Sajha for far too long - such a refreshing experience coming back to Sajha after a good stretch of five months! Blimey. I will now start looking for SITARA et al... my old Sajha chums!

Loved your story as always - marvellous. I just envy your passion for story-telling which only a few of us have an innate gift for. I will try and locate your other stories in slow time.

In Endinburgh at the mo, enjoying the week here at the Fringe. So busy hopping in and out of the makeshift theatres and art galleries before the summer break comes to a close. Did some camping down south and in the Highlands up north.

Hope all is well with you John.
Carpe diem

John,
Needless to say, you have an amazing gift of story telling, but I, for one, was amazed by the way you concluded this story.

It looks to me that your participation on this whole thing was MUTUAL. So, I do not think anyone was victim there. But you portray yourself as a helpless victim to such an extent that while women in those crammed buses had that option of getting off the bus before their departing destination, you were tied down besides that "fair skinned" lady.

I certainly did not feel that a separate and a mutually agreed event as yours could avenge all sexual harassment, which were NOT mutually agreed upon, done to the entire female sex over centuries. In saying so, I got the impression that the the night you went through could not have been any worse when in fact you walked out with 'joy' in the morning.

Awesome story!!!!!! If men and women are equal, both should face the same music. You just happened to be the victim. I've been through something similar with aunties, only now I don't blame them -same reason.

Keep making love with words John and ride the orgasm of literary stardom! Kudos to you!

Nice narration as usual!
I never wanted to travel by train in Bihar but I had no option beside that. Travelling in the first class was impossible, neither my dad suggested nor I thought about it. But with fear and a lot of things, I used to travel in the third class compartment remembering one of my australian's teacher comment "India is a volatile country". In one of the trip in Bihar ( its must be along sunauli - mujjafarpur route), I went to the rest room and when I came back, one guy was sitting in my seat. I told him that it was my reserved seat ' instead he repied, ' ye bihar hai bhaiyya , kisi rule nai ha ( something like that in hindi)'. I asked him to get away from my sit, but he insisted me. I just kept on standing remembering my teacher's comment , " India is a volatile country". Finally after 4-5 stations, he got off and I was able to get my seat.

This one is particular, brought back some memories- I spent some time in Kolkatta (Calcutta..however they spell it these days :-)) and went on a field trip to Jamshedpur and Assansol...seems like light years ago :-)

Cheers.

Anon!!! :-)

It's been ages I know, but for the last two days, I've been littering Sajha with messages trying to find out how things are with you (check the old Nelson thread)..I know you were in a period of self reflection so hopefully things turned out as you had hoped? :-)

You take care.
