Enough!

Everybody knows that are differences between us. Newar-Bahun is an explosive topic. Even as kids in school - we witnessed so many fights breaking out on this issue. Passion always runs high on either side.

To those exploiting the differences, please remember it is always easier to divide, much much harder to unite. Are you prepared to give up what unites us? Are you prepared to say that you are not a NEPALI.

To San, Sajha should not be allowed to turn into a forum to propagage hate speech. Hate speech should not be allowed in the guise of free speech. It can not be given the same liberties.

Ban these threads.

and by the way GIDILAT Ji, these threads should not be band because it shows the true opinion of people. it has to stop by itself not by stopping them from other people.

A little over a month I posted this thread: http://www.sajha.com/sajha/html/OpenThread.cfm?forum=2&ThreadID=32015

Back then, I thought this was some isolated incidents that would go away on its own. Unfortunately, instead of going away, it's becoming more of a common theme in the sajha kurakani.

An individual can be bad. An individual can do condemnable acts. But we cannot condemn the whole group because of the acts of one or few people of the same group. As we look at history of our country, groups of people have been discriminated against. Kamis, sarkis and many other such castes have been segregated to never be able to live up to their potentials. In this day and age everyone needs to have the opportunity to shine at what he/she is good at. I think it is conceited and wrong for anyone to think that a certain caste should not be able to do certain things.

Most of us who visit this site are educated, yet, we take advantage of the anonimity provided by the internet to thrash other groups. Other groups which consist of individuals. Individuals who do not fit the stereotypes.

As we look back at the history of Nepal. We have always been divided into separate castes. It has always been in the rulers best interest to divide and rule. Even the British used the 'divide and rule' policy to rule over India. We have just recently earned 'democracy' (which is still in it's conception stage), and it's a perfect time for us to do away with the caste system that divides us. We, are individuals firstly, and then we are Nepalis. It's a perfect time to move on to the 21st century and do away with a tradition that tries to determine your fate according to your birth. We should judge a person by his/her individual achievements rather than branding someone according to his/her birth family.

I'm a little tired after coming back from the ANA today so please accept my apologies if I have not been very coherent. The main thing I want to say is that caste discrimination is not going to go away on it's own. We cannot simply ignore it and say that it's part of life. We have to do something about it, and we can all start by NOT practicing this in sajha. Please join me in declaring sajha a site where we do not discriminate on the basis of castes. This will be enforced. As responsible members, I hope you will help by notifying admin@sajha.com if and when these kinds of topics rear their ugly heads.

More on the ANA and more photos coming soon...

Sanity Restored.
Thanks.

NightCrawler Jee:
An educated person like you must know mob mentality. A mob can be incited to do just about the most inhuman thing imaginable. Think about Hutu-Tutsi massacres. For reference http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rwandan_Genocide.

Do you really think that it was the true opinion of all those people involved?

I am not saying the bahun-newar discussions are at the level of hutu-tutsi genocide. But they have reached pretty low depths - there were even insults directed towards the parents.

Let us hope that the opinions expressed are NOT the true opinions of the people involved - but were merely products of incited minds. Let us calm down a bit - then if you are a Newar, imagine saying such things to your Bahun friend or if you are a Bahun imagine doing the same to your Newar friend. Growing up in Nepal, you must have had plenty of friends of other ethnicity.

I got one comment to make. Few decades ago, Nepali
government were able to manipulate the
common people because they did not
have formal education, were simple, honest and straight-forward.
They had little knowledge of awareness and the world. But today, it has turned upside down.
That's why Nepal is in deep_shit_hole right now, because many Nepali have access to education than before,
many have travel outside Nepal, and many have access to online.
Bottomline, simply people are AWAKEN!

This is a quote i heard;
"there is one brahmin dude in sikkim who once said that as to strengthen their superiority in society if any of these indigenous natives raises voices as to safeguard their religions, languages, cultures n seek for equality then we should level them as racists, separatists and anti national so that they drop down their voices and agitation,"

To all my brothers and sisters here i am not trying to create trouble nor start another debate on Racism.

But we cannot afford to close our eyes and ignore the fact that Racism/Racial discrimination does not occur in
Nepal and close the door.
For if we do, then we are cheating our self, our conscious, our future generations.
Racism/Racial discrimination do exist in every aspects of life in Nepal. We have to be honest and NOT
afraid to speak out about this issue.
First we need to justify the wrong doings and create equal opportunities in every sector of Nepal.
The masses of people cannot just be wrong to stir this issue on Racism/Racial discrimination.
The people need to realize this whether they are practicing this, or knows about this or is the victim of it.
Together we can eradicate this evil of Racism/Racial discrimination from  our country the sooner we admit it.

SKH

sajhakohero

man that quote is simply awesome if "there is one brahmin dude in sikkim who " is also a part of the quote.

also raising voices for rights does not mean that if you're a newar you have to say bad about brahmins and vice-versa. i mean you're necessarily trying to create a split if you have to resort to foul mouthing the other party.

all of you supporting racism, go fock yourselves

all of you who have been posting picturs, videos and posts full of religious hatred, go fock yourselves

all of you who think you deserve to be a 'real (?)' nepali coz you hate indians, madheshis and such in that matter, go fock yourselves

stop leaving pathetic lives suckers, instead try to embrace every race, culture and religion as equal

if you can't do that, simply go fock yourselves
