Due to increasing number of politics related postings, we have created a new section called Nepali Politics Forum. Currently only few of the recent politics related threads have been moved to the Politics Forum, but moving forward, please select the correct catagory of 'Nepali Politics Forum' when posting politics related posting. This new section has been created to cater to the needs of politically inclined visitors while keeping the general sajha kurakani open for more general discussion and sharing helpful information to the general Nepali public living abroad or in Nepal. Comments suggestions always welcome. Happy Friday! Best wishes, San

Whoever is the admin or owner, Making Politics forum is not a great idea, why only politics? Have other forums as well, patriotic forum, nostalgia forum, Nepali-in-US forum and so on... If you want sajha to be popular and lively, don't bend the rules Just let it go with the flow

My quick opinion: If it is possible at all, I think it is not a bad idea to organize Kurakani postings into categories. However, I think it is a bad idea to place politics section into inner pages. And my definition of 'bad' is not in a MORAL sense but strictly in a COMMERCIAL sense,. My best suggestion: Give a small sub-window (showing, let's say, latest 10 active threads) for 'Nepali Politics Forum' at the front page. To make a space for that, you will need to reduce the number of threads in the 'Non political Kurakani section' However, my biggest concern is about the Jhanjhat of determining who and what should decide whether a thread is political or otherwise. What to do with a thread that starts on a non-political theme but turns political later on or a thread that starts on a political theme but develops into a thread suitable for 'Non-political Kurakani section' ? I am sure San will be spending a lot of his time transferring threads, particularly if 'Political threads' become second class citizens of Sajhaland restricted to dwell in it's inner pages only. In any case, I think I can adapt myself to any change and will be happy with it as long as I feel Sajha is bringing readers for what I post and posters for reading what I think is worth. Nepe A living fossil of Sajha hoping to survive a very long future

After reading all of your comments and the activity in the polls it is clear that there are few that are not happy about it, and there are few that are fine with it. The result of the poll does suggest that it might not be a good idea to move the politics related threads to a different page. After considering different options, I literally woke up with a solution that should work for everyone. The solution would be empowering the visitors with the ability to determine what they see on the home page. It is fairly simple and straightforward process whereby you can select what you want to see. Please click on the CUSTOMIZE button next to the ADD button besides kurakani on the homepage to empower yourselves. On a side note, the main goal of sajha is to bring Nepalese together. Politics tend to divide us and it seems like it is impossible to stress on the goal of sajha without making some sort of change within the site. As we all know, politics and society are interrelated and go hand in hand. If we, as educated representatives of our country, continue to participate in disparaging attacks using foul language, showing utter intolerance for another's political beliefs, then how can any kind of political landmark be achieved in Nepal, where most people are not even educated? Politics is supposed to lay the groundworks for a better society, but it's not happening as we all know. Let us work towards creating a better society which will lay the groundworks for a better politics. Let us choose to participate in positive discussions that are productive in nature and not vindictive and intolerant of each other. Best wishes, San

San ji, Its a good idea of yours to introduce the customize button to let choose the users the content of kurakani. Atleast, we can now adjust the salt by ourselves in Kurakani curry. But the original page should first contain the political threads which should give the users the option to exclude those threads if they want to, not the other way round, which is the case now. Because thats the layout of the original Kurakani before you introduced the Nepali politics forum and the number of people as shown by the poll wanting to include politics in Kurakani are more than those wanting the opposite. So, the default homepage should contain politics, I mean to say in short. Those who don't want politics will have option to customize and separate politics.

I agree with world map...since few days Sajha is kinda dry. All those intellectual users are missing..i dont mean to say others are less better but still dont want to compare this place with other Nepali sites. And San I understand what you are trying to do, but with this current layout it wont look good....unless you revamp it.

In my honest opinion, all people had right to put their honest opinion about anything andeverything...Politics is rather a part of life, affecting every aspect of it...and having different opinions about the political beleif and discussions doesn't means that WE ARE DIVIDED...Rather it will mean that we are having DEMOCRACY at least at SAJHA and using it to the full extent. I don't say that others aren't intellectual...but it really feel bad not to see the good intellectual discussions about our country, our homeland and all the news related to it....So I want to urge San to put the politics forum back on the SAJHA...Hope my opinion counts... Just my two pence, Nirman

Well I was told that Sajha would fellow the majority votes. it seems majority has spoken clearly to leave political discussion as before so why natak of customize and bla//////// once you put something for vote you have to do accordingly??The fact is clear 38% wants political thread is to be separated and 57% wants it like before so be an examples of democracy and stick with your saying you would do what majority want??..it seems minority should have customize not to those who are in majority?

how things have changed! I came to the US 17 yrs ago, and since we were some of the first to come here thru the process (I-20 and F1s, if you know what I mean) that started late 80s, we had a really hard time 'settling in'- we worked nites 7 days a wk at minimum wage and went to school in the daytime to get our degree, so we could get somewhere in life. Most of us have, and I proudly say this, achieved some degree of success, towards what we worked so hard for. And politics had nothing to do with this. On the other hand, some of our friends back in Nepal are still doing politics. They are all in some central(or otherwise) committee of some party, all graduated after 15 years via different colleges/universities( if they graduated at all), and never a day goes by when they dont issue some "political propaganda' thru a local newspaper, go to some demonstration against someone, switch alliances every 3-4 yrs ( or sooner), and worse of it all make life miserable for their family. They themselves do not know what ideals they are chasing, except they all dream of being in 'power' some day, and running the nation. And we want to promote that kinda stuff here in Sajha?? peace.

This is a good decision to move all political propaganda to a different page. All the people complaining are unhappy because thier political propaganda is not going to show up on the front page now. There used to be 125 user visiting sajha now it's 95 only ...... the number of people who voted against this is 30. It adds up!!!!!!!!!! Good riddance!

San, Thank you for listening. I am glad that you "tested the waters" before jumping in ;-). Your ability to inquire, listen and desire to make Sajha better makes Sajha the best. Kudos!

The strength of sajha has been the fact that sharing of any kind of ideology and political belief is welcome here as long as the discussions follow courteous and respectful exchanges. The creation of the political section was more or less a refuge for political postings with too much negative contents with constant bickerings, inconsideration and intolerance for others' point of view. Although at the time it might have seemed like a discrimination against political discussions, it is in fact an encouragement to indulge in more productive political discussions than negative ones. The Nepali Politics Forum will henceforth remain there as a container for political discussions which tend to degenerate into the realm of negativity, name calling and personal bickerings. (The current ones in there are not necessarily of this nature however.) Sajha as a site does not knowingly take any sides politically since it needs to be an open place for everyone to be able to discuss any political beliefs.

HarkeyDai, If asking for and encouraging more civility within the forums constitutes 'Gyane Paara' for you , then I would have to kindly request you for a more non-gyane-paara solution from you. :)

San Sir, For Better management of threads, I have some ideas. It may help to manage a bit better. 1. Don't let user (readers) make thread. Admin makes threads in a need basis. And user will post their comments in the relevant threads as their wish. For example make few threads such as. a. Nepalese Politics Forum b. International Politics and Affair Forum c. Social Forum d. Teen Forum e. Suggestions Forum f. Technical Forum g. Immigration Forum h. Patriotic Forum i. Human Rights Forum This way, Admin can keep on increasing the threads as per the comments posted in the Suggestions Forum. If any post was made in any irrelevant Forum, admin should move to the relevant section. This way, it may be some what cleaner. Just my thoughts.

Easier said than done. Politic is not everything in this world. Y'all need to broaden your horizen a bit. Besides all you fuggers do is YAK YAK YAK anyways. So whats the point ? I mean if these discussions were going somewhere, then I agree wiith all o u's. But its just plain old talk without any action. So why even bother ....just sweep all them cronies into one corner where they can YAK til YAMRAAJ comes and takes them away. he he he
