Hey guys, Someone just put a hold on my bank account stating I can't use my funds. I am guessing its from a debt collector. Does anyone know how to resolve the issue? I am hoping to get at least a portion of my fund hold released. Thanks.

It's probably irs or child support. Your bank will be able to tell you who garnished your bank. If they are debt collectors send them a debt verification request.

debt collectors can not hold your account, yes it could be IRS or child support.

It's probably the IRS. If it was regular debt collectors, they couldn't do it without a court issued judgement (which is possible only after they sue you, and you would know !). Now, where was this account frozen? Was it in mainland US or was it an offshore account, because Nepalese banks report to IRS for FATCA compliance.
