I have got traffic ticket for Cell Phone using while driving in New York

I want to give the case to attorney to represent me to plead not guilty. I am worried about whether he will be able to dismiss the ticket or not.

And another thing, is this case increases the insurance premium ?

Anyone already gone through this situation, please share !!

Just show up on the court date, hopefully the officer who gave you the ticket won't be present, the judge will dismiss the ticket. Even if he does, say you made a mistake and if it is your first offence, they might cancel it as well. Or, do the defensive driving course online which will cancel the ticket, if your state has that provision.

If you indeed used your cellphone while driving, then your are guilty. Just admit it and show willingness to correct the mistake, and the judge will be happy. He will give you a break. You say, hey i'm not guilty, you are inviting more trouble.

Hardic , there is one lawyer in Downtown Manhattan for tickets . My friend successfully dismiss his cell phone ticket over there.
Actually that whole law farms is just for tickets. If you want info i can give you address. And do it fast, NY tickets has just 15 days time

One thing i forget to tell ,dont go to nepali lawyers, they aren't good for this. Go to that lawyer and hr will take care of everything. Even you dont have to go to judge by yourself.
Most important dont admit it as like furkey said. This is NY dude, dont even think police or judge will do some favor just because you admit it.

 Hopefully you have learned your lesson. Texting while driving is really dangerous. I have seen several footage (on youtube) of people getting into an accident while texting. Worse yet, you could seriously hurt or kill someone else. Please don't text and drive again.

I really hate when people text and drive.some of my fren can't get their face off from phone while driving.I think cops need to suspend texting driver license and make them give driving test again.
I don't know why some people think text is more important than their life.

Have you ever heard who committed suicide being charged of criminal offence? I don't think so , those who kill others are prosecuted.

And, mark my word, if he's found texting while driving, nobody can save him, not even his lawyer. Basically, he's challenging law enforcement and his conscience that he's trained of. Believe me, let him learn his lesson, let him go through all the hassles, let him spend thousands of dollars on his lawyer, ultimately only to be proven as guilty and pay the fine anyway.
Just keep quiet, let him do his stuffs, he'll learn.

Bittertruth, he said using phone not texting. So we dont know total incident yet. I dont know how texting word came here.
The lawyer i mention above charge 125 bucks only. For 2 its 150. Mine was 2 :-P

Bittertruth i guess you are from Boston or some other nice place. If you had already drive in NY or planning to come here dont expect any kindness from NYPD. They are worst cops in US. May be its because they have to deal with all kind of people but still they are too bad.

 I get tickets all the time; speeding, improper lane change, failed to stop completely at STOP sign, crossing the white line at red light, expired emission. I cancelled all of them by taking defensive driving class online for $35 and paying the court  $105 per citation. Its not in NY though.

Furke , Ny rules are complete different and hard too. In other state you will get 1 to 2 month to pay tickets but in NY with in 15 days you have to pay it or defend it. Most of tickets are 138 but redlight is serious offense 250.
And if you want to go on court you will get time after 6-7 month.
