I think after you got your Green Card, it doesn't matter whether you got it from asylum or not. Just what I think. I am not even a percent sure about this. I don't think you have to wait for graduation to call your parents. You can call them anytime. This again is my own thought. I might be wrong.
Did you graduate from undergraduate university? Can you apply for asylum when you came to US on student visa?

 I think there ain't any difference between the parents of somebody in F-1 (or other) status applying and your parents applying for VISA. They need to show the bank balance thats gonna cover all their expenses (if you're not working) and also the tie to the home country. It's not any easier bro. Goodluck.

i don't want to be an smart alec but once you filed asylum (yes, despite legitimate reasons) you have a greater hurdle to clear, even if you are inviting parents for a legitimate milestone in your life - commencement. wish you all the luck.
