Why is Ian Martin back in Nepal this time? a) to cover up his own screw up over the registration of fake Maoist combatants by the UN. b) to collect his bonus payments from the Maoists before their government falls. c) to admire Nepal’s scenic beauty. d) don’t care, but now that he does not have diplomatic immunity he should be arrested and investigated.

Magar ji there is no reason to support Ian martin. He is a real failure in nepal. He always supported maoist no matter what. His reports were mostly unethical and unrealistic. They were the one who clarified long time ago about the maoist combants number. So there is no way you should be supporting this guy. Maoist simply wanted to take over the country like prachanda confessed in the tape and Martin was trying to give a push from the back to do it. I dont see any positive role of UN in nepal in this matter. I think they were simply trying to make some easy money by not doing their job. They helped bringing everybody in the goverment and made them hug each other but there is no long run good vison behind the whole scenario. They dont want to take any headache, since it does not really matter to them. Job is done infront of the whole world. Ran some good news about nepal all over the world. If there is another war these people will get another job. That is how UN runs. If there is peace all around the world then UN will loose lot of jobs. If there is no hunger around the world then they will loose some more. If there is no diseases then will loose some more. They want more of these bad things in the world so they can prosper more easily. Pretty sure there are good people in UN, who has good vision about the world, but at the same time there is lot of dirty politics in UN too. So i support UN for doing lot of good thing in the world but dont give nobody that crap that Ian Martin is great and he did everything with a clean principle in the favor of nepali people. Bull Shit!

UN was trying to make Nepal's case the Model Peace process. In that process IAN compromised a lot with Maos. Was that good or Bad? I am not in a position to strongly debate either of the answer. But if someone asks if UN compromised a lot with Maoists to bring them back to peace from their past, then the answer is yes. Some call Prachanda a devil of peace process by lying to UN and Nepali people and others call him a hero for telling people exactly what they needed to hear at that point. Most Millitants were not ready to come to the peace accord had Prachanda not lured them with the capture of state by the means of constituent assembly elections. Who was Prachanda lying in this. If he was lying to the Millitants then good for Nepali people, he tricked Millitants into joining the peace process and if he was telling the Millitants the truth then its bad for Nepali people. So to make this a great MODEL PEACE PROCESS, UN tried really hard. Lets face it UN has not been able to implement any peace process in the world lately and they wanted Nepal's situation to justify UN's existence. In that process, yes UN could have overlooked, not looked, ignored, and pretended for fair count for the number of PLA count just to make Maoists party happy. So coming back to the thread question Ian Martin must have come to Nepal to tell Prachanda this " Dude....i thought we were tight, how could you lie to me on this" OR "Dude....you need to learn how to keep your home videos safe,Didnt you learn that from paris hilton" Peace !!! "

Rant all you like nothing will change because there is going to be no recounting. This is nothing but politically motivated attempt to defame Martan. Shame on you people for critisising UN. Why don't you look at yourselves in the mirror first.

Ian was a total failure in Nepal. He stamped 5 times the actual size of the militia. What can be worse than this? How much money was spent on verification and how much afterwords? How much money is still being coughed on the wrong data? When the financial aspect of Ian's doing is analyzed than he might be considered a biggest traitor of Nepal who betrayed UN.

you are absolutely right. I know most of the SAJHA user does not like G.R joshi but he had the valid point here. "Ian Martin is a communist" Interview with Govinda Raj Joshi (NC), Nepal, 16 NovemberWhy is the NC resentful towards UNMIN?
Govinda Raj Joshi: We believed that UNMIN would play an important role in bringing the peace process to a fair conclusion and having an independent election. However UNMIN has failed in both these tasks. What wrongs did UNMIN commit during the elections? They made the people go against the candidates of other parties who were being targeted by the Maoists. Then they didn't go to all the constituencies. Shouldn't they have monitored all the places? Can you give us any examples? They used to attend my public meeting all day long and instigated people to go against me. They even said that they would cancel my candidacy. Why do you think UNMIN did this? The main chief of UNMIN, Ian Martin, seems to be a leftist. Being a communist himself, he forgot he worked for the UN, set out to help the communists, and helped the Maoists in every way he could. Plus, he doesn't seem to be able to tolerate the NC. Martin acted unethically. The election for the constituent assembly was not conducted fairly. And NC found out about this only now? We knew about this before, but our party as a whole just found out now. So you must be be displeased about UNMIN's term being extended. We are. This is about ethics. Girijababu even told the UN secretary-general that UNMIN did not behave correctly. Yet the government is getting ready to ask UNMIN to extend its term again. But the government probably needs UNMIN. It's the Maoists who need UNMIN, not the government. UNMIN provides the legality that the Maoists need to be in government. That's why even if the government asks UNMIN to stay on, the NC will not accept it. http://www.nepalitimes.com.np/issue/2008/11/14/FromtheNepaliPress/15379
