Ram Baran Yadav is a medical doctor and a Koirala loyalist, he served as Health Minister in a previous NC government. He is one of handful of Madhesis who refused to defect to the MJF or other tarai-based parties during the Madhesi Movement of the past two years. He was threatened, his property seized, but Yadav stuck to his principles. He also refused to agree to the MJF's One Madhes, One Pradesh election slogan saying it would fragment the country. This did not endear him to the Madhesi street.

Dr Yadav said  "It is a nonsense idea to have a single Madhesh (state) because different colors of people live there. The Madhesi people want their right, not a separate territory,''

Doctor by profession added "I have been a successful doctor rather than successful politician," 

    B.P. Koirala's social democratic ideology inspired him to be a politician, it is said.

    As a Madhesi people, he stood firm against the demands of a single autonomous Madhesh state, claimed by some Madhesh-based political parties and played an important role to calm down the agitation that broke out in the southern plains of the country last year.

    He said he would never support the politics of ethnicity.

I have seen his debate with other Madeshi leaders (I don't remember the TV channel). He was tough and made everybody’s mouth shut. It was impressive. That was when Madeshis were in strike.

My understanding is that this Ram is far better than other two Rams - candidates of presidency from Madheshi origin. However, I am unhappy with the aliance of NC, UML and Forum that these crook politicians chose another Madheshi who is very dirty himself, as the vice president under bhagbanda ko rajniti; khoi ta rajniti of ethics and principle? Maoist lai badala lina lai ra post and power ko lagi yini haru le inclusiveness ko afnai agendam birsiye. I think Maoist's step of not supporting UML's Madhav Nepal or NC's Girija as president is good decision; yi marna nasake ka Makune, Girija jasta sadhai kursi mai tasina khojne neta harulai kati reward garne ho.

I think,its a big change as Jantako choro tyo pani by being elected reached in the topmost post of the country.Whatever,leaders are confronting for post or else, within period of around three years we have rebels in peace process, have CA electetion,country became republic peacefully. So I'm really optmistic for Nepal's future though its slow,tough and challenging. I wish best of luck!
