I too send money through muncha . Initially i was concerned about giving out my SSN , so i called them directly and spoke to the person . What i was told was , it was not compulsory to put ur SSN , but it helps . And that it was safe .
I would recomend you to call them up directly and see what they have to say .

Hope it  works out for you  .

I used moneygram. MoneyGram is avialable everywhere in USA and Nepal. Don't need to deal with SSN. Money can be collected in Nepal in 10 mins and their fee is like mucha or moneytonepal.com. Before I have used moneytonepal, thamel.com, direct bank wire transfer but not finally I started using moneygram for its fast transfer. I paid like $12 for $1000 transfer to Nepal via moneygram. Only catch with moneygram is you have to pay Cash while transferring with moneygram.

I use moneytonepal.com the transaction is free and they have a very good service as well. And one thing Income, I think you don't need to worry about ur ssn being misused unless you are very high profile person. I dont think they will benefit much from average profile people like us, so they don't misuse our ssn, but I am not sure if you have high or average profile.

NOSTRADAMUS, seems like you are more concerned about gas, car and time. I prefer convenience to the one who will be receiving the money. Regarding car and gas, I believe most of the people in USA goes to grocery at least once or twice a week and Moneygram is available most of the grocery stores. Regarding time, this is the reason why I use moneygram because money can be picked in Nepal after 10 mins of transaction. and you can pick from various location including Banks in Nepal.

I don't want to argue on this and people can choose whatever way is convenient but I had some disappointing experience in past. Once it took me 10 days and the reason provided by the company was it was end of the month and they has maintain the balance and running low on cash. But common, why do I care of any date. What want is when my money get deducted from my bank account, it should be delivered on time in Nepal... period...

its all in the X-rates..i am a frequent sender and have tried all the service from western union, money gram, travel-x, muncha, thamel.com, money2 nepal.. here is my summary..

if its an urgent fund for small amount send through moneygram.but if you are sending a large amount then thamel.com and muncha is the best..these 2 companies x-rate is better than anyone out there...don't get sold by money2nepal's free transfer..their x-rates aren't guaranteed upon delivery...

I wouldn't worry much about the SSN as all these companies are backed by legitimate companies.

OOPS Why you guys are worried about sending money to nepal? It is safer not to send money through

online but it thats with security thats fine. If you need money immediately you can use western union or money gram but money gram is cheaper than the western union and also moeny gram pays more than western. With money gram you don't have to deal with SSN unless you are sending 900 or more than $900.Which means you have to show your ID. The other safer one is throught Bank. Definitly bank charges bit more if you are sending little money like 500 or 1000 dollars. But if you are sending  about 4-5k its better you send through Bank which is safer and cheaper also. Don't deal with person never otherwise
you guys will suffer . I deal with money gram. good for little money. With Money gram if you to walmart you can use your check card or debit card for sending. No hassal to carry CAsh.
