hey, we have quite a big community of Nepalese at RTP; mostly Raleigh, Cary, Morrisville area. Few in Durham and Chapel hill also.
NCNC (Nepal Center of North Carolina) is the nepalese organization lead by Dr. Ishwar Devkota. Here people are friendly and the weather is favorable to everyone. mail me, may be I can help you with.

I wonder where you moving from and I can compare between those 2 places. I myself moved here from MD and loving it here. Public transport I can not comment on it coz I live quite a drive from RTP. Nepalese Community wise there are 300-400 nepalese in the area (Raleigh, cary,morrisville an d Durham) and hold a cultural show every now and then.
