You can only serve on a jury if you are a citizen. If not, then on the form that you were sent, there is a check box which should say something to the effect of "I cannot serve" and on the portion where you have to explain why, you can write that you are not a citizen. Even if you are a citizen, you can excuse yourself from jury service if you can show that serving on the jury would be a great financial burden on you. Whether you are excused or not depends on the judge.

only citizens are allowed to jury duty. if you are a citizen adn called for jury duty you must go (by law), and the employer must give you a paid leave of absence for the day you go.

silentkiller, if u got the invitation and u don't wanna go then your best option would be writing "I NO UNDERSTAND ENGLISH WELL," on the reason field. The judge won't bother you at all if you write that. I did that twice once for myself and once for my mom. We both were excused. Make sure to reply that letter no matter what you do. not responding to that letter is considered felony. Good Luck!!

ok..another thing that works..if nothing else does..you can tell the judge that you already know about the case for which you will be sitting and thus have formed your opinions/views on it :D.
