When I travelled last year, E ticket was issued upto Bangkok and Paper ticket was issued from Bangkok to Nepal. I went by Northwest and they had flight upto Bangkok. I did not get any problem with e-tkt.

COST MAY BE CHEAPER FOR DIRECT FLIGHT (DONT MEAN SINGLE FLIGHT). IN MY KNOWLEDGE 1400 - 1800 DEPENDING UPON AIRLINES. BUT WHEN U BREAK YOUR TRAVEL GOING EUROPE THEN U MAY NOT GET GOOD DEAL...AS UR TRIP IS AS PER UR CONVINIENT U MIGHT HAVE TO PAY HIGHER ....MAY BE OR LESSER TOO.

I have been checking fair for march since last couple of weeks. If you you break your jorney from here to london and from london to ktm via middle east then that is the cheapest one through europe. But I am still worried about the transit visa requirement of UK for Nepali. Although there is an exemption for people with USA valid visa and airline tickets I am kind of worried what if some neo-sense people does not let me board in the plane by looking at my Nepali passport. That's why asked about this issue in few days backs posting. I am still looking for answer from people who have transited through London without DATV. If some of you happens to be that person please share experience. Back to ticketing again, BKK route is way more expensive in my finding. Cheapest one is through the Delhi but I am trying to avoid it and reason is quite obvious.

By the way all my findings are solely based on orbitz. I could not find any other better website.I have not tried travel agents yet because my dates are not fixed yet.

Your past travel experience will be highly appreciated. Thank you for those who have shared their experience so far.

Hey DC girl How do you know that? Any experience about that? I agree that Nepal is in the list of the countries for which transit visa is required. But there is some exemptions. It says :

Passengers exempt from the DATV requirement
Holders of certain documents are, regardless of nationality, exempt from the requirement to hold a Direct Airside Transit Visa when transiting the UK.

A transit passenger is not required to hold a transit visa if he holds or a person with whom he arrives in the United Kingdom holds on his behalf:

a valid visa for entry to Australia, Canada, New Zealand or the United States of America and a valid airline ticket for travel via the United Kingdom as part of a journey from another country or territory to the country in respect of which the visa is held;
a valid visa for entry to Australia, Canada, New Zealand or the United States of America and a valid airline ticket for travel via the United Kingdom as part of a journey from the country in respect of which the visa is held to another country or territory;
a valid airline ticket for travel via the United Kingdom as part of a journey from Australia, Canada, New Zealand or the United States of America to another country or territory, provided that the transit passenger does not seek to transit the United Kingdom on a date more than six months from the date on which he last entered Australia, Canada, New Zealand or the United States of America with a valid visa for entry to that country;
a valid USA I-551 Permanent Resident Card issued on or after 21st April 1998;
a valid Canadian Permanent Resident Card issued on or after 28th June 2002;
a valid common format Category D visa for entry to an EEA State;
a valid common format residence permit issued by an EEA State pursuant to Council Regulation (EC) No. 1030/2002;
a diplomatic or service passport issued by the Peoples Republic of China; or
a diplomatic or official passport issued by India; or,
a diplomatic or official passport issued by Vietnam.

I have valid F-1 visa so I think I will be in exempt category. Am I wrong?

How does an e-ticket work?

Lurkhure,
How did you factor in the 'break' in london when you searched your flights in Orbitz? Did you look for the connecting flights the following day?

Acharya

I did two independent searches. One from US to london. This flight arrives following morning to the london. Again you can search from London to Ktm. You will find that there is one flight around 11:30 to Abu Dhabi and other two flight in the evening ( or night ishould say) to Doha and Baharain.

I don't know how to make these two segment as a single piece which makes life much easier if you have luggage. Orbitz never showed me that route for single US to KTM search. I am trying to use some travel agency for that purpose or ask Orbitz by phone. i have not purchased my tickets yet.

I don't know exact answer of your first question as i have not used it so far. But I am guessing that e- ticket can be printed in your printer. The paper has to be mailed by agent by printing themselves so they charge extrar shiping and handling charge.

Hope this helps you.
