I recently became a naturalized US citizen. Do I need to get a Nepalese visa from the Royal Nepali embassy before I can travel to Nepal? How long does it take to get the visa? How long is it valid? Thanks.

If you hold US passport you do not have to get visa from here. You can just get visa from the nepali custom office at the T. I. Airport in ktm.

Great. Do they usually do it quickly or is it a long wait there at the TIA customs to get the visa stamped? How long is that stamped valid for? Do I need to take my Nepalese passport and citizenship card with me when I travel to Nepal? Do I need to surrender them to some govt office in ktm or something since there is no provision of being a dual citizen? Thanks.

Lol badarnikt..but seriously, wouldn't I be expected to somehow notify Nepalese govt that I am not a Nepali citizen anymore. Not that I really want to.. I'd rather keep both my passports and use them both to my convenience..lol, but don't want to get in trouble later. How does this really work?? Anyone know?

VISA to nepal...why do you worry about VISA to Nepal eventhough you got the US citizenship. Nepal is a lawless country anyway...forget about even getting VISA...just force your way into the country....and who will doubt that you are not a nepali citizen ?

Nuts, Like Dalli Resham stated, you can get your visa on arrival. Just have a passport size photo and $30 handy. Make sure you have exact change as those immigration clerks are known to pretend not having change. In my previous experiences, I never had to wait very long for my visa. Just fill out the form before landing and join the line. I don't see any reason for you to carry your Nepali passport or nagarikta with you unless you expect to need them for any other purpose during your stay in Nepal.

Nuts, before you apply for a visa, you may want to gain admission to top colleges in Nepal (like T.U.). For that, apply in advace . Usually, classes start after September, so you may have to apply at least a year in advance. Also, show a very solid financial statement, like bank accounts to the embassy. Include as mush as you can in your financial statement, like property valuation from an engineer. Last but not the least, be prepared for a tough and rigorous interview. During the interview, try to convince them that you intend to return to US after finishing your studies. Good luck. p.s. also, try to score good marks in TONFL (test of nepali as a ......)
