No ! Ofcourse not! I dont think US is the best place to live in the world. It's a pity that many people back home and ofcourse in US think so. They haven't seen or travelled other corners of the world so whatever they have seen, they think is amazing. cheers!

Not many people are blessed with to be able to pick a best place to live. For most of us, its either US or Nepal. Knowing it very well Nepal is our homeland and we love it dearly, I have picked US. Why? Hard work usaully yield good results here. I can visit Nepal whenever I want to (at least once a year if I desire), conversely, by choosing to live and work in Nepal I can't always do that. Secondly, I don't want to raise my family in a place without Law and Order. My friends family were attacked at home by robbers in Nepal and there was no help from police. Police themselves are running for their lives, forget about protecting you and me. Next thing is healtcare. In Nepal we get blessing from our elders saying longlive, if you live in the US, you've got longer life than if you live in Nepal (of course, in conjuction with diet and exercise). Then comes education for you and your kids. There was a long thread floating around in Sajha with comparison of education in Nepal and US. My $0.02.

I don't think there is a best place anywhere. Home is where you live. Now in terms of safety, security, and jobs, US probably will be the one. But again, nothing is perfect. One has to scarify something to get something, and we do that by living far from our home Nepal and its culture and people. Nepal has such a potential but over the years of conflicts and corruption, we are force to leave our country. When it comes to emigrate, US is the best because there is no where in the world that give such opportunity to foreign citizens. I know that it is hard to get GC or citizenship here, but not impossible. Law and order is much stable here. People?s rights are very safely guarded here. Try this in any other counties like Japan, Korea, or any EU countries. You will be treated like second-class citizen openly.

http://www.infoplease.com/ipa/A0778562.html this is just the general ranking. it totally depends upon the individual. suppose for my grand parents, best place to live in the world is thier home at terai and pahad. for my parents, their home in nepal. for me, i am not settled yet, i dont know where i will end up living. when i came here in usa, i did not like this place, cultural and many other different shocks, now i dont think this country as bad i used to, though i still dont think usa as my home. for me, i came here to study and if possible to work as a professional after completion of studies.

Honestly, I have travelled a lot and seen many countries. I am not talking about the emotions but when it comes to rest of the stuffs related to living, I would definately vote for US amoung all the countries I travelled (they include most of the european and asian countries. saroj
