depends on the type of loan. if you want loan from banks and credit unions, yes, they need co-signer. co-signer should be a person whom they can trust; and is usually a member of the bank for quite a while or any american or permanent resident if you want loan from your university, then no one is required. you can inquire more at student financial office in your school

Yes, u can borrow if u have a cosigner who is either a permanent resident or us citizen. The interest rate varies with the credit history of the cosigner, u can try city assist. The interest rate is pretty high these days may b prime +4 to 5 %.
