I watched Mr. Pun's commencement speech at the Uni of Nebraska Kerney and was really impressed. I have always wanted to donate for his highly appreciable work ever since. Thanks for the link.

What a great effort....Hey guys, it looks like these people are doing amazing job...Here in sajha, we have been often complaining about Nepal not changing....Project like these are the baby steps for the change. Khairey, pardon my ignorance. Maybe I am a fool but could you shed some light on how at this point of time an information highway is more important than physical highway? I was just wondering if we have our priority inverted, that is all. I guess intellectuals like you have more deeper understanding than obtuse man like me.

For you contracting a read is number one priority as it is one of the integral steps in developing a country. Constructing road is not an easy task. It needs lots of money and human resource therefore it is virtually impossible for an individual person to opt for it.

 

Mahabir pun is from a remote village in Nepal who had planned to link his village to entire world through internet. Now he is very successful in linking many remote villages to the world via internet. Nepal, where many people only talk and give their own suggestions and try to demoralize others, has very few people who are doing something good for her.  Therefore I think we should help him rather that demoralize him

 

Mahabir is the incarnation of Ghasi whom BhanuBhakta had met in his life...

||_|| , Just in case you were wondering what an information highway could do that a motorway, road, freeway, superhighway couldnt do.

Few things that come to my mind in a split second..

1. 4 people from 4 different villages (the traders) want to communicate between each other about what each village has to offer and in return.

2. They would want to let you know that one of the youth in one of the villages, has such an extraordinary talent so people like you would help him find a school, a job and he'd be the one replacing your thoughts when he's your age. No, he doesnt have to travel to your place to showcase his talent, neither do you have to travel to his to witness.

3. Teachers dont need to travel to the schools up there to teach. They have the most advanced teaching methodologies you could ever imagine of. Yes, volunteers from UCLA and Stanford.

4. Ohh wait, they dont even have to pay for Landlines cos of the super-information highway. VOIP between those villages. Ohh , VOIP is a lot cheaper(Or Free?) cos Philip just configured Asterisk!

5. Have you noticed how solely "Communication" has helped them create jobs, and stretch the market at Valleys below them?

6. Research Organisations have started conductin' researches on those network and the nation's network infrastructure HAD TO BE extended to meet his dreams. Appreciate the private organizations involved. Of course, they develop for better connectivity and better returns eventually.

There cant ever be points complete if you talk about what an information highway can do. For a single reason that you can think of, if you donate, GOD BLESS YOU.
