NepGuyUS,

I would suggest that you google about these companies.  From what I found, I am pretty sure that these are not genuine companies or even if they are genuinely registered, they don’t have real jobs.  See here:

A friend of mine was contacted by an Indian IT company (Integrated Software Solutions, Princeton, NJ) offering him a business analyst position with a 50-60K salary. They offered to reimburse his travel costs to NJ, and said that they will train him for a month or so and then he will be sent to where the client companies are located. A Chinese friend of mine was also contacted a Chinese from an IT company (HD Dimension, Princeton, NJ) offering the same position with same salary, and same training during which they said they would pay for the accommodation. But they had told her that she would have to pay $500 in advance.

The position and salary both sound like what everyone is looking for, esp. this year when the job market has been going through toughest time in recent yrs. But how real are the offers? Doing a little bit of research on the internet abt these companies can give you an idea that the jobs may not be real.

Here are few things to observe, or ask them:

1.       These companies are consultancies/staffing agencies. They don’t have jobs. It’s their clients that have the job and there is no guarantee that the consultancy will be able to get a particular job or a project from a client. What staffing agencies do is that they simply submit job applications on your behalf at a client company and if the client company decides to hire you, then you are in. The client company makes payment to the staffing agency and the staffing agency, after deducting commission, makes payment to you. Again, there is no guarantee that you will be the one who will be offered the project or the job because there are other staffing agencies vying for the same job/project.

2.       Why do they train you? Because they accept ppl with any majors and they have train these ppl so that they can at least be familiar with IT. Do you think that with a month or couple of months’ training, you can land a contract job/project? Well, may be yes. These consulting companies can even make fake resumes to show to their clients how qualified their ppl are (The guy from that  Indian company Integrated Software Solutions  told my friend not to worry about experience because they can put 2-3 yrs experience in the resume). Even after you are able to get the job/project, how are you going to do the job? (assuming you don’t have much experience in IT other than the month long training by the consulting company).

3.       If you go to the websites of these companies, you will see many fortune 500 companies such as JP Morgan, IBM, Fannie Mae etc listed as their clients. How true is their list of clients? There is no way to verify ( other than perhaps contacting the companies themselves).

4.       Usually these consulting companies have names similar to well known and established companies. So, when you google about them, most of the results that you see are for their well established namesakes.

5.       On their websites, there is little or no information on where to contact them. No phone, no email address, no street address etc (eg. SourceInfoTech Inc’s website doesn’t have any of them)

6.       Usually they say that they will tell you that they will provide H1B visa or green card. The only thing they can do is file your application for H1B visa and then it goes into the lottery system. So, what guarantee is there for visa sponsorship or green card (I think the later is in the hands of US govt.).

7.       Usually these are newly established companies (7-8 yrs old) and google results will show that other people have also asked questions about the authenticity of these companies.

Good Luck!

Thank you Sero ji for your informative reply.(Sourceinfotech has address at the bottom of website..just wanted to say..) I am actively looking for a job myself(my OPT just started). But, I don't know why its getting very difficult  to find a job these days. And,because of this new OPT rule,If I don't get a job within 3 months,I have to join in IT consultancy to remain in status.so,I am just looking for a reliable IT consulting company(I just want to work on my OPT and may be on its extension too). So,even if I get a long  internship..that's fine.(I am not running for h1b or gc as I have just a bachelor degree but its an IT degree.

Thanks again
