I have a quick question regarding paying tax. Hope you will help me. I worked from one recruiting company for 9months and 10days. My employer had run the payroll for 9months, that means I had a paycheck for 9 months. He had paid the tax for the 9months.

Now the question is that for the  rest 10 days work, he gave me the cash. And I am sure that he didnot pay the tax for the rest 10 days. Do I need to pay the tax for those 10 days? If I need to pay the tax  for future safety how can I pay the tax? I have already left that employer and now working from another employer. Any help and suggestion would be appreciated.

You do not need to worry at all about that 10 days cash pay. Ask them for W2 and go with the numbers  in  W2. You cannot file  your tax  until you have  W2.

A question for you,

I want to file the tax return jointly with my wife, but my wife doesn't have SSN, she was here as my dependent on F2 visa and later got admission in a school and now she is on F1 but still she doesn't have SSN...

Can I stll file jointly without her having the SSN?

Yes, you can file a joint tax return. You need to apply for your wife's ITIN (Individual Tax Identification Number) along with your tax return documents. You cannot do an e-file, you have to send in the papers i.e your joint tax return, ITIN application and notarized passport/visa photocopy of your wife. This is a long process though which takes 2-4 months to process. Hope it helps.

AwaTar is absolutely right. Go www.irs.gov and fill out W7 form to request TIN for your wife.

Since bhandari started tax thread sailendra posted many warnings about bhandari tax services him. Bhandari messed up his friend’s tax and has to pay interest and penalty.

Now he is offering free tax, why he did not do his friends’ tax last year free??? Very obvious reason he did not know about it. Now one year later he claims as an expert??

So check his credentials first before asking and getting information from this guy.

Sailendra, you did not mentioned when he should file the file W-7 form right now or along with the primary tax payer. What will be the next procedure or that is the last procedure? Give clear information as if you are giving information to a lay man will understand.

AWA TAR, you and sailendra doing free tax filing together or just helping? I like your style but as I added a question to sailendra, similar question related to ITIN. If we needed money soon as you mentioned that it will take 2-4 month process, but wanted the refund soon by filling e-file as a single what will be the next process. Is W-7 is used to get ITIN ??

Nepalers, do you have any idea if sailendra was able to up-grade his grade with this free tax project. I like his idea of doing free tax, specially those new comer will enjoy it and will be able to save some money too.
