You need a translated birth cirtificate from Nepal for the I485. Passport won't work as your birth cirtificate.

Is certified translated document enough or do we still need to provide the copy of the original birth certificate along with the certified translated document?

I have been told that USCIS no longer accept Birth certificate issued after years of birth. Such birth certificate shall be accompained by affidavit of birth.

I recently had RFE on birth certificate. What I did was got 1 from the VDC, got typed in english, it just says so n so person , son/daughter of so n so was born on so n so date at so n so place as per the birth record maintained at the birth registration book maintained at this office. My birth wasnt registered there, its not difficult to get those papers in Nepal. I got my green card within 14 days after submitting the BC. Make sure it has ur mothers name in it too, coz they want that. you cannot use passport or naything as a substitute.

hey tori laure, Did USCIS accept your birth certificate issued by the Nepalese embassy in washington DC? What documents did you have to provide to the washington embassy in order for them to issue your birth certificate? How long did it take? How much $$ did it cost? Thanks in advance.

1.Get a birth certificate from your VDC/municipality dated the day u were born with your parents name and location of birth place. 2. You can have it in nepali or english. If Nepali, translate by yourself in a word document(keep it as simple as possible) and get notorized by the attorney (may be your immi. lawyer can do it for you).
