If you applied for asylum, your F1 status will be automatically terminated and you will be called an asylee. Why don't you talk to your International Student Advisor? It is always better to know all the required information before you applied for asylum.

I agree with AnSa. Once you apply for a immigrate visa (asylum is an immigrant status/visa) ur non-immigrant status/visa (F1 or H1) automatically terminates. If your aylum gets approved that's great. If it gets rejected, you will face deportationF1 cannot save you from that.

First, try to find out what does asylum means in different terms in US. I think it could be someone who has nothing left in Nepal in terms of money, it could someone who life is at risk if you return to Nepal coz of maoist, it could be someone whose business has bankrupted. Well,if you have shown high income to enter USA as student, there is risk to file as asylum .

I heard that in some cities like NY and California, there are high chances of getting an asylum approved if you have strong evidences and documents. Why don't you talk to a human right lawyer? Usually, they don't charge you if you have no source of income.
