Do you think Jackie Chan is more inlfuential than Amita Bachan ( & the rest of Bollywood actors n actress) in the world of enterainment ?

To me he is. No one, I say again, no one in Asia comes close to Jackie Chan. He is reconised world wide and commands more respect than Amita Bachan. Mr Bachan might be a good actor without a doubt but Jackie Chan beats the entire actress/actors hands down.

Give your thoughts guys/gals about what I said.I know there are many Bollywood fans here, I would love from you.

i_nepali bro, no offense but it's known that you can't stand bollywood actors so the topic itself ain't worth arguing. You already are more inclined towards Chan.

Jackie Chan is of course more popular than Bachchan, but look who is producing his movies in USA? Hollywood itself. I don't think any of the Bachchan movies are produced by Hollywood producers. So, if Amitabh is that popular that you are comparing him to Jackie Chan, then there must be something about Amitabh, right?

Oh frankly, Tuxedo sucked, so did the Medallion and Around the world in 80 days. Any given day, Chan's subtitled movies are far superior than his hollywood produced movies. Rush Hour series were hit not only because of Chan but also Chris Tucker. You can't ignore Chris Tucker. He just proved that he is as powerful as Chan (or more) when he refused to give the green light to Rush Hour 3. If only Jackie Chan could pull the Rush Hour series, they'd have replaced Tucker with someone else. Don't they?

They released Drunken Master II in US theater back in 2001 after the Crouching Tiger Fever... Watched it and was mesmerized -- the stunt choreography was amazing -- action on the big screen wow..!!! Soon "Iron Monkey" -- not a Chan movie -- followed. That could have been a breakthrough for the chinese martial arts movies on the US box office but everything went kaput with the box office collection. ha... "Hero" was an exception.

Both are good and unique in their own ways. As far as the popularity is concerned, Chan's popularity is global whereas Bachchan is known among indians, south asians and NRIs.

While it will still take years for indian cinema or indian actors to mass appeal globally, it won't be an over statement to say that Bachchan is not far behind most of the good actors of Hollywood potential wise.

Well Mr. Lonely, but that's what we think right? It's just our point of view. I think unless there is a real survey on who is more influential, we think Bachchan is only popular among Indians, South Indians and NRI's while Chan is popular around the world because he has done hollywood movies. Chan's vote might always be higher because another assumption: Everyone in China Knows him and we know how densely China is populated. But our assumptions could be wrong. For example, Amitabh is more popular in Egypt than anywhere else and he is quite popular in whole Africa. "Amitabh mania" is not coined for his popularity among Indians but among egyptians. So, it's kinda hard to say coz, like I said earlier, unless some survey is done, whatever we say is just an assumption.

Grew up in 80s, born and raised in Kathmandu, so hell, there was no escape for Bachchan Influence. Again, Grew up in Kathmandu in 80's and didn't miss the video fever in small toles like "makkhan galli" and other gallis at all. Skipped classes to go to watch porno in such gallies... and actually ended up watching Jackie Chan's movie... just imagine, so young and hot blooded and so crazy for sex, and yet preffered Jackie Chans movies to Porn. That's quite an influence. :D:D:D

Aight' out... late for work, gotta pay bills that not even Bachchan and Chan combined can pay.:D laterz

remember stealing money and sneaking out of house to watch illegal screening (on 20" TV screens) of Bollywood videos in crammed rooms (often, 3 ppl shared a chair, weakest one pushed outta bounce) for 5 rupya a show. When you got back home, pretended like nothing happened even tho the hero's action moves never left your head for a week...

Guess would've been a great man now hadn't I done that kinda stuff as a boy...

Guys and gals, Amita Bachan ( any Indian actor) can't hold a candle a candle against Jackie Chan. He has already reached the audience far and wide, in the world. If one makes movies in Englsih ( Hollywood )then consider that everybody in the whole wide world knows him.

Whoever is influencing....does that make any difference to us? Damn it. They are doing their business and we are just fighting with each other to make one of them look greater than other. Just enjoy movie for 1.5 hrs or 3 hrs. then forget about them......

Some people called it waste of time, some called it stupid comperision but I liked this discussion, specially 9/10 threads in sajha now a days are about the King. I am sick and tired of those all pro and against King threads. Seems like they can't win in one thread and decide to create thier own . Sajha should a funland for everyone and variety is a must.
There should be a separe tab for Politics and current situation in sajha so that the main page is set aside for something more interesting.
Having said that, let's come back to the original question, who really is more influential?
This is my view: Although Chan is loved by more yonger generation,he lacks the variety. Everytime Chan is on, its the same thing again and again where it's a surprise with Bachan, you never know what to expect and more often it's a good surprise.
If the question was who is more popular, then I would have had hard time answering this question. Last week Bachan was sick and more than a million people took a day off from school/campus and work and went to pray for his welness.
