Dear Gurlu,

I am pleased our combined pleas did not fall on deaf ears. Yeehah! Now that I?ve completed the mandatory cartwheel or two to accompany that yell, might I say I am delighted with your decision?

Perhaps work and life?s pressures forces on us a balancing act that has us walking a tightrope that feels too fragile to bear the load. Forcing us to pause, lest we be cast into the abyss. The sensible place to cut down on, we think, is our forays into cyber land.

Which brings me to examine the concept of self itself. Do the traditional definitions stretch to include our cyber selves as a valid and accepted extension of our identity? Has society evolved sufficiently to accept the online persona as yet another facet of the fascinating complexity that makes up the human condition? Many of us here have roots in non-wired (wireless!) and traditional societies. And, as we grasp new lenses to view our lives, it sets the stage for some level of discomfort, even angst. Especially ifwe are judged to have neglected other imperatives to conduct our cyber lives.

In short, Gurlu, I value your online persona and think it is a valid dimension of who you are. I am pleased to know you here. And using that acquaintance, I have taken the liberty to scribble some musings in your thread.

Thank you for your good wishes. As indeed I am immersed in the challenges of my profession and the assignment I am currently engaged in. Though not so lost not to notice that one of my favourite sajhanivasis was ready to do a runner! Phew, thank God I read that one critical line in your posting at the start. As for that trip you mentioned I might have been on, if it weren?t for the small detail of not having won the lottery yet, your guess was dead on.
