Actually it is not difficult, if you can prove you have enough money to support yourself for a period of visit, have an invitation letter from European business or resident and you can prove that you will be going back to your country then you may get the approval.
There are tons of people from all over the world visiting these countries.

Same goes with the person with GC, you will be required to apply at cosest Consulate in your state. By the way you have to show return air ticket or Itinerary.

You don't really need an invite. Shengen Tourist visa only needs tickets/itinerary, pay stubs, bank statements and hotel reservation.
