Namaste everyone,
Me and some of my friends in Colorado School of Mines have initiated an “Engineering for Humanity” project to help Nepali students and community out there in Nepal. I am asking your help and suggestions to move forward. I will give you short description of how we worked:
1. We contacted Kathmandu University to identify projects where senior engineering students can work in impacting local communities.
2. With faculties assistance students wrote 12 proposals based upon provided guidelines (details in website)
3. We students here (USA) networked with other people and raised fund to support a selected project.
Experiences:
1. It is not as easy as it seems to get money out of peoples pocket for a new starter.
2. Learnt how to network with people,
3. Dealt with failures of not being able to accomplish desired goals
4. Learnt to improve and keep on working with new ideas.
NEED HELP
1. We raised $288.69 from first fundraising dinner program and is not enough to even fund for one project. (Expenditure report and other details in our website)
2. If you can donate few dollars that will be great to boost our confidence to take it to the next level.
3. You can do similar thing from your universities or community out there and share your experiences.
FOR SUPPORT AND OTHER INFORMATION PLEASE VISIT OUR WEBSITE
http://inside.mines.edu/~ykoirala/index.html
ONE THING THAT IS CERTAIN IS YOU CAN’T CHANGE OUR COMMITMENTS
Thanks,

The title of this thread is little intimidating! Cause itself is a wonderful thing but you can't force someone to support your cause. There are different kinds of clouds: some cloud makes you wet by bringing rain, some cloud gives you cool shade, some cloud come and go without making any difference. Similarly, human beings are like clouds; they function according to their level of awareness. Every single being acts only on account of his/her psychological conditioning. In other words, people are living their dream. What is real for you might be unreal and funny for others and vice versa. So, do what you please but if someone ignores your version of reality then it doesn't mean they are wrong!

Thank you for your comment Khairey and Ujl ji. Ujl ji, I can't disagree on what you have said. Probably I could have written a better one. I know there won't be a person who will disagree or say that vision is not good. The title was just written to bring peoples attention. Starting is always difficult. May be I won't even get a penny from an online donations but at least my message will be spread and might motivate someone out there for similar effort. Again, I am doing what I please and thinking in a way that makes me follow my dream. I have learned to move on and follow my passion.

Everyone, my goal is to at least be able to fund one project at the moment and get it going. And that project will only require $200 morea to what we have raised so far. And I wanted it to come from people like us who can donate few dollars and the more important is to bring a new culture in Nepal's education system. I know we can make it happen. Looking forward to meet that goal by this new year.
Thank you.

@ujl, another great analogy. Keep em coming. What drives you to try to understand thinking behavior?

@Fiji-water, can you drink tap water for few days and save some money and donate for the charity. I assure you two things for sure and that are you won't get sick drinking tap water ( I haven't ) and I will use your contribution wisely.

Hey Yogesh aka BabuYogi -
I fully support what you have initiated there from Golden. Nepalese brothers and Sisters now is the time to show our X-MAS spirit, come on - we can skip a six pack, reduce belly fat and support this effort for the betterment of our society back home. Give this guy a pat on the shoulder for his effort ehh? Thank you for your effort Babu Yogi.

You can't ask people to drink tap water and donate the money instead. Still looks like you are intimidating people to donate. Generosity is not your way, it seems.

@ Poon-hill thank you for you motivation.
@Sajhamitra, I acknowledge the fact that the title is probably pathetic. I should have thought for a while before writing one but my cause is genuine and can always improve :)
@Khairey, it was just being sarcastic bro. You just didn't get the point. Again I can't blame you for judging me.
