shyaku ji Prashant did not sing yesterday because he was not in wild card round wild card round is a second chance for all those voted out and prashant was not voted out. he is already in the final gala rounds.
too bad aisha sayed got left behind ..if judges wanted to select one by themselves in the 2nd wildcard round ..why the heck did they not do the same in the 1st round??anyway its past i dont think that the janta will give amit a chance so we have padmanav, suhit and ankita and out of padmanav and ankita the judges are gonna select one so we have suhit and either of the one not selected by the judges and who knows janata myte again have more votes for suhit since he had positive reactions from 3 judges..shit man everyone knows he is not a good singer ..there should be something such as negative voting aswell to vote out that fella
amit had a good start but so sad did not end up nicely, i loved the song he sang, i wish he sang the whole song here is the original version from the movie woh lamhe
the song is good no doubt ..but amit faltered and i do not think he can win either the judges and the janta in his side..pity he is all but gone ..a good voice lost
there was this damn good singer who was incidentally the first contestant in the first episode and javed and udit voted her out thinking that they will come across better singers
Policeman in Indian Idol becomes new Nepali icon Source : IANS kathmandu • A 22-year-old policeman from Darjeeling, who is one of the contestants in the popular "Indian Idol" show hosted by Sony television channel, has become the new icon for the Nepalese diaspora with Indian viewers of Nepalese origin whipping up a campaign to boost his chances.
Prashant Tamang, who comes from the Tungsung village in Darjeeing, has hit the headlines in neighbouring Nepal where hundreds are rooting for him.
Kantipur, Nepal's largest circulated newspaper, reported yesterday how Indians of Nepali origin have found a new object of pride in Tamang, who despite a difficult youth and having no formal training in music, won praise from the judges of the contest and survived the elimination round.
"I went home to Darjeeling recently. During my stay, I kept on voting for Tamang through SMS. When our brothers win laurels, it is a matter of pride for all of us," Darjeeling girl Neeruta Singh, one of the most sought-after heroines in Nepal, told Kantipur.
The Nepalese daily detailed how Darjeeling's ethnic Nepalese community was charged up to support Tamang.
A photograph showed a signature campaign with Tamang's 78-year-old grandmother Sanjeevani Tamang scrawling on the huge banner.
Taxis in Darjeeling are carrying photographs of the smiling Tamang, while schools, clubs and even the local police are asking people to support the singer, the report said.
A banner put up by Darjeeling Police said, "Prashant Tamang, the first ethnic Nepali Indian to have gone past the elimination round is our prestige."
After his father Madan Tamang died in an accident, Tamang, then just a teenager, was offered a job by the police force for which his father worked.
He joined the force in 2002 and found an outlet for his singing dreams by joining the police band. Currently, Prashant is stationed in Kolkata.
Ethnic Nepalese are also proud of Udit Narayan Jha, the golden-voiced boy from Nepal's border area, who became a singing sensation in India's multi-billion rupees Bollywood film industry.
Jha, who is one of the judges of the contest, spoke to Tamang in Nepali when he learnt where the contestant's home was and that he spoke Nepali at home — another matter of pride for the ethnic Nepali diaspora.
Indian idol is one of the most watched programmes in Nepal and when Abhijit Sawant, the first Idol, came to sing in Nepal, his concerts were packed.
This year, the contest for which auditions were also held in London and Dubai saw participants from cities other than the major metros making a mark for the first time. Besides aspirants from Nagaland and Assam, there was also a contestant of Chinese descent, who was praised for his singing talent and personality.
ya it came as a surprise to me too that suhit was chosen while a girl like aisha was eliminated ....oh well, maybe 'janta' found something in suhit that they couldn't find in aisha ....and if i have to name one thing, it might be the sense of style that suhit has!
and about the performance of the 4 contestants today...i think it was pretty easy to judge
....amit's performance was a flop considering he forgot a line from the song ...i am not going to buy his excuse that he was too occupied by how his very close fren was eliminated ...ok fine, he might be depressed but he shouldn't have forgotten the chance he was given which his fren lost ...he didn't realize it so he will have to pay a price for it
ankita's performance was smoking ....we all need to watch this girl ...i have been watching this girl closely since i started watching it and i think she has what it takes to go very far...she just doesn't sing very well, she also has proven time and again that she can sing any kind of songs...versatile is definitely what the people always seek in a good singer...and about her performance today, my god, it was the best among all in all aspects ....her choice of song was great because people like happy songs ...people like to be cheerful listening to songs ..and she succeeded on people to make so ....and look at her style ...her facial expression and body language was like never seen before from anyone ...she has that sex appeal in her voice and her style which will definitely add more votes from even those who are skeptic about her past performances ..way to go 'oh baby' gal !!!
padmanav is another candidate that should be selected today in my opinion ....he chose the song what the indians never gets tired listening to ....and he sang it very well with the sentiment it requires....he reached that soft corner of every indians heart and touched it very deeply ....he has that seriousness in his performance which can be a boon if he can keep it to the level the people can accept it ....however, he still needs to work in his style and come with more vivid performance than just those nostalgic songs ....after all its not just a singing competition ...people vote you for your over all personalities to make you an idol ....and not to forget also compares you with the likes of ankita
suhit got one more chance to prove he has more than just a good style ....but i am afraid this probably was his last chance...even though its a search for an idol ...its foundation is based on the core of singing platform ....he missed that core requirement in today's performance ....his style brought him this far, but i don't think its enough too take him any further ...and jahev saheb's comments that 'he is a flat singer and i don't think he can do anything' will also play a key role in taking away some of the major votes he otherwise would have received...sorry my fren, i think you would rather make a better fashion icon than an indian idol!
but with all that said, itis still people who decides who they want to see in the gala round with other 11 best of the bests ....my review was a lay man's review and it should be read so
A very interesting analysis indeed MR born_to_rule!!
I always felt that Suhit was not the best singer and sud have been eliminated a long time ago but rite now I just feel like voting for him if I cud!! There`s no denyin the fact that Javed Akhtar is One hell of a Lyrist but Gooood he`s just too arrogant for my liking!!! Everyone knows that he dislikes Suhit but does he have to embarrass him every time he performs!!! Last time I felt he didn`t even listen to what Suhit sang, but was so ready with the comments he made!! I know the poor guy is a mediocre singer but aint as bad as Javed Akthar pointed out and that too in one of his better performance!! I just feel like Javed Akthar made up the rule of selection of the second wild card entry by the judges so that Suhit doesnt reach the next round!! I feel there are deserving candidates but I so so want to see Suhit getting the maximum number of votes..............
I don't think Javed Akther has to do anything with making rules. As a senior and most respected among the judges, I think, he got honor of announcing the rules whatever the producers came up with. With this new rule I would say Rock dude got the most chance of getting thru as he is Alisha ,Anu's fav & Udit supportes both Alisha and Anu. Lekin, I don't think that gonna happen unless judges go blind for rock dude. Padmanav and Ankita were 100 times better that him...
