They would do anything in their power to get admission into St Xaviers and St marys and after that condemn the nuns and priest for preaching!!!!! I mean why can't they go to a Hindu School instead or a school that does not believe in anything. You see the point!!!! DOUBLE STANDARD

As I mentioned before, the reason Nepali folks are against preaching is because of history which is deeply rooted in our culture. We as a culture had never been able to fully trust them. And I would put forth the same question I put forth to Andrew. Would the christians be happy if the Muslims started converting their people in Islam, or Buddhists be ok if the Jewish people came into their town and started converting their people in Judaism ? A common man's reaction would be NO.
As for why they couldn't goto hindu school ? why are you here in US to study ? Why didn't you just stay in Nepal and goto Nepali college ? Same reason everyone is here...QUALITY OF EDUCATION IS BETTER... and has nothing to do with religion.

As for St.Xavier's, being a product of Xavier's let me assure you that (at least during the ten years that I spent at the school), never were we preached about Christianity. In fact, there used to be an American priest (brother) who used to teach from Upanishad and Geeta to 8th std boys. (Unfortunately by the time I reached 8th std he had already left). We used to pray every morning but we used to pray to "God" .. Christianity was never mentioned in the prayer.

I don't know if it's still the same. That was in the eighties. Whew! Budhyo bhaiyechha aba ta.

Look dudes i dont believe in any relegion at all. I belive i am alien and my root is somewhere in other galaxy. The aliens came to earth and had sex with ancestor grand mother. It was then started so the generation followed. If i believe in any relegion, i will believe in my mind. My mind is biggest relegion, it has everything and i proud to announce that i am alien.

Also the Bible was not written in oral tradition it was written down. Hindu vedas were originally for thousands of years transfered through oral tradition. So the statement that the bible will get mixed up like telephone is not accurate to Christianity, but to Hindusim.

Also the reason many so called Catholic schools or christian schools dont preach the bible is because they have become liberal and basically dont care about god anymore. This happens a lot. Especially in the USA.

Just believing in one religion does not make you fanatic or anything if you know what you are believing in. Beliving and following a religion helps to lead a rightous life and that is what is missing in our Country because people believe in nothing.

Do you know the germs grow most in luke warm water? But then if it is hot or cold, it does not matter. That is the problem of our country right now because we are lukeworm and we believe in nothing. Recommend you guys to read 'Dor Bahadur Bista's FATALISM AND DEVELOPMENT' and you would understand. You condemn other religion because you have nothing to believe in yours, it is all about believing in everyhting and yet not beleiving in anything...

I think i have already mentioned earlier that conversion is not on any human being's hand, it is in God .....I do not believe that i can convert anyone into christianity unless God does some miracle. I do not beleive that. And most of the great christian leaders i have made were not converted, they found the God themselves or God intervened into their lives. So there is no quesitons that we are there for converting anyone.

I think a muslim would argue with me in this differently and i would respect that because if he is a good muslim then he would believe in God and understand my logic.
Also, Bin Laden is not doing things because he believes that he is muslim, it is because he beleives that he is GOD, this is the difference and there are many people like that , why only attack muslims. Our king does all that because he also beleives that he is GOD and that is the danger.

Also, i feel you say all this because you have nothing much in your religion to strongly believe in. It encompasses everything, hence nothing. If you beleive strongly in your religion, then you have to believe in drugs because your God was an addict.
Also you will have to not believe in marriage because your Gods had multiple wives and all that. There was no respect much for women, at least not that i know of.

So you see you have nothing to strongly believe in so you do not want others to believe in anything either and i feel sorry for that.

I beleive in ten commandments because every law of any country are based on those principles. I do not think any human being will be happy to commit sins and feel good about it.

And yes i think i am a fanatic but for a good cause....at least i beleive in something....

I have heard students of St Xavier and St Marys accusing them for preaching..... but then like Dautari says they do not even do anything like that. It is just htat the moment i say i am a christian...i am labeled with Preaching!!!! .

Trying to pull a fast one ? I am talking about the old and the New Testament. When were the gospels actually witten(talk to me) ? more than a 100 years after Jesus supposedly went back to heaven. Gospels of John, Mark, Paul were all written at last 100 yrs later.

WHen it suits you fine, its ok to go to christian camp in the name of quality but then if someone says he/she strongly believes in Christianity, then it is conversion, bad, fanaticism, etc. It makes me feel like laughing..............

As a human being I am free to go wherever and do whatever. All I am doing here is asking questions(are we allowed?) ? And you guys are going all accusational. I'd do the same for any religion. Since Christianity is the topic here...NEED I SAY MORE ? If you are smart you would not brand yourself into anyone's interpretation say like Christian, Hindu, Muslim. But like a herd of sheep Both Manab and Andrew keep playing the same scratched record you guys keep repeating the same thing over and over. Your wanting to belong that makes you want to say I am this and I am that. Till now you don't even know what religion I am and yet you guys keep accusing me of being a bigot.

I think some of the discussion that ANDREW put were not valid as well. I would say that as a Christian because my knowledge is limited. But you cannot condemn a religion based on a person. How can you condemn Islam looking at Bin Ladan. I mean we are all humans and we have our bad side and you cannot condemn a GOd or a religion by looking at people.

Look at the way people were naming GOD.... i mean it sucks and it speaks the double mindedness of Nepali people and their broadmined philosophy. The fact is they do not even respect other people's GOD.

Like i said i believe in beleiving. You all are only pointing out the bad sides. Are there people in this world who changed this world for the better because they beleived in something. Strong believing gives us power and gives us motivation in life and makes us see things differently. This world is a better place today becasue certain people beleived in that and chaged the world. But then, we like most people and especially Nepalis only see the wrong side of the things and love to condemn others.
I wish you had faith at least in your own religion and beleived in that and see the difference. I do not think i have condemned anyone before but then you loved to put me in the same boat...
Just view things with open minds and learn little more becasue it helps in arguments....

The gospels were not written 100 years after jesus Christ died. They were written within the same generation who saw the ressurected Christ after He died. Peter was a disciple and he wrote some of the new testament. Others were written DURING Christ's time on earth. None of the books of the Bible were written more then 70 years after Christ died. They were written by the same peopel who existed at the same time Christ lived on Earth. How is that not accurate writting?

People who lived during jesus christ write about Jesus Christ and you think thats not accurate?

The foundation of learning process is asking questions about things u don't understand. And that was all I was doing but Andrew was the one that started all the name caliing and double standard and blah blah blah. I have read almost all the religious scriptures from Hinaya, Mahayana, some bajrayana, Mahabharat, Geeta, Vedas, both Old and new testament. None of them answered the eternal question about the Supreme being to my satisfaction. That is one of the main reason I don't LABEL myself as this or that. I don't feel the need to belong to anygroup to make myself comfortable.

As the bible says I am who I am.
