man, that guy is huge... dallas is very fortunate to have a player of his caliber on their squad... its such an advantage.. please just dont realize... along with the countless number of points, rebounds and blocks... his mere presence just straight up intimidates the opposing team...

interesting stuffs..looks like we got hard-core ana bball bloggers........
before bringin anythin...heres how the Championship's been divided so far:
2002- dc -winner dc...(dalls knocked out 1st rnd)
2003- denver- winner dallas( dc runner up)
2004- phoenix- winner dc ( phoenix runner up....phoenix beat dallas in the semis)
2005- dallas- winner dallas( dc runner up)
2006- ny- winner dc (dallas runner up)...

attn: sleepyspur....dallas has not won 2 of last 3 championship as u can see...

both times dallas won...saurav (2002) and the others( 2005)...were in the dallas team....dallas and phoenix combined....u cant hide that fact...
..dallas hasnt won anythin without saurav.....saurav hasnt won anythin without dallas.....the truth is they cant win without each other.......therefore,there is no argument that saurav is the most imp player for dallas....even though he has been a dudh-bhat.......now when they split...both side loses..(loses-as in strengthwise)....dallas stay the same this yr....phoenix brings that tall guy from new-york.....another dudh-bhat......just to make their team stronger....lets see where it takes them.....btw...that guy from ny.....wasnt much of a threat anyways.....esp..in his so-called hometown..NY.....some ppl jus cant stick to their roots....
dc on the other hand...has stuck with its core players....in all those 5 yrs....atleast 4 players remain the same...the 'help' keeps changin...n they say that these'help are from nowhere else but dc......on hearing that dc wont have 2 core big men...dc def lose some strength ....but then again the addition of another good pg takes care of some of that...
now its obvious that all that been being talked is on dc dallas n phoneix...which seems natural as per the stat.....no other team has been as good as dc and (dallas+phoenix )combined.....but the young-guns that are on the rising might surprise 'em all....or will they?....2 weeks..n this tread will have a new meaning.........good luck to all...
may the best team win!!!

final word u might be right about your statement....... but explain how even with out the dallas team, phoenix with both saurav at point and there strong post that looks like saurav were able to defeat dallas and clain second place in the tourney with only 5 guys...... and dc and dallas needed a whole line up to get their rankings......

now i am not sayin dc will not win...... they do have a great team and are picked as the number one team to win all the games set before them..... i am just sayin for only havin 5 guys u need to give phoenix some credit

thanks to all and namaste

finaleword, looks like u did your home work... i like your dudh-bhat metaphors... i just dont understand why you all keep on insisting that one player can make much of a difference... whether it is the traitor from new york, the great saurav, or the two big men from dc... i mean, how much difference can it really make..

unfortunately team play and winning is more like masu-bhat not dud-bhat.. i have never seen phoenix play, i have only seen dallas and dc as they were the last two years... i think both teams are very solid and can easily make up for the loss of one or two players.. i guess we shall all soon see how accurate/inaccurate our analysis has been...

fyi... no words from samsara lately... usually samsara bro comes up with the best comments..

Finalword......good info.

Okay, here is the way I see it. Dallas with Saurav made it to the finals 3 times and won twice. Dallas without Saurav never made it to the finals. It makes me conclude that it was Saurav who took the team to the finals and won the championships. I understand that it is a team sport but I believe that Saurav's presence cannot be ignored. As long as Phoenix has a decent supporting players, I still choose them to win over DC (which has a pretty good team). Like I said in my earlier post DC can beat Dallas without Saurav anyday.

I hope some of the new teams are good. Since I haven't seen them play yet, I cannot make any assumptions about them.

Okay, here is one last exercise.... If you can choose 1 player from another team to play in your team who would you choose? I have got my money on Saurav.

I would have to say that Saurav is the one guy anyone would pick, but I think shorty from Dallas is my second choice, he s 3 point expertise can make/break a game in a second..

Yeah fountaindew, they beat Bay-area in the finals and DC before that. I heard that DC-Phoenix was really close and Saurav hit a free throw with no time left to win the game.

Dallas lost to Bay-Area in first round. I think Phoenix and DC are the two best teams.

Thanks Emnitrader. I've always admired the way Saurav plays with great passion and love for the game. Congratulations to the new champs!!, and kudos to DC for being such great competitors. As for Dallas, I always knew they were only an average team and they won their past championships only because of Saurav. Anyways good job to all participating teams, as I'm pretty sure they put in their 100%.
