ummm....just watched Prashant's ...yet to watch rest of the others'. It felt like I was listening to Nepali pop singers on Hits FM once upon a time...nice! But he could have sung better...my honest opinion.

let's see how others have sung on this gala round...I hope the site doesnt give me any problem.

Chang was the best today. I don't remember the last time I actually enjoyed his performance.

Prashant was good. I like how he sings all the songs in his own voice. Although I urge him(or whoever gives him the song) to be a little more careful in his song selection. This guy is capable of much more.

Amit and Emon are over-hyped and overrated. They are just as bad or good as Prashant. They all have their days.. Amit was good today and Emon was BAD. He sounded so rehearsed and monotonous.

Puja sang beautifully today.. I love this girl..

Oh one more thing I want to say here. The contestants(or whoever does it) should be very serious about the song selections. A lot of their songs don't even go with the theme of the episode.. "Dhol bajne laga" for Independence day and "ab ke sawan" for "pop"(unless they mean non-filmi)???

I also watched todays show and here is what I think.

Amit was the best as always. Someone earlier said Amit is overrated. How? Try to have a constructive criticism.
Emon always renders a flawless performance but his voice is too sharp, devoid of charm and thus, it takes away the alot of credit from him.
Puja is also a very good singer. Highly trained and very professional singer.
Prashant is a raw talent. Today, he wasn't good. It may have worked for you guys. Sorry. One of the drawbacks of being an untrained singer is that YOU LACK CONSISTENCY as perfectly exemplified by dear Prashant.
Chang has a good voice but I still don't get how he has survived until this date.
Ankita is a very good performer but as a singer, she has done her best and this is it.

Deepali was undeservedly voted out last time. So this clearly states that people are voting their favourite contestants irrespective of their performances. So that way I can almost guarantee that Prashant will be in the top 3 without any scare. I wouldn't be surprised at all if he won the Idol as well.

I like Prashant's singing n the charm in his voice for sure. Emon sings good but his voice has no appeal, same with puja, she sounds like a kid to me.
I like Ankita a lot, especially in pop type songs n today she just rocked the show.
Chang's voice has a lot of appeal, possibly coming from an East asian throat.
n Amit's voice is wayyy too good.....the only person whom i support other than prashant.

Why do I think Amit is overrated? Hmm I have quite a few reasons actually.
His performance today was farrr from being perfect- like Udit TRIED to point out.Was he good? Sure. But was he as great as Anu Malike keep saying? I don't think so.
Fortunately(for him) his weaknesses are usually easily ignored whereas the same mistake by Prashant, Puja and you would see JA and AM pounce on them with their sur-taals' microscopes.

He sang "Nasha yeh pyar ka Nasha" brilliantly. Judges went all crazy over him and so did people. And I strongly believe that he's still benefitting from it. The other day, he sang "Omkara" and messed it up. He forgot lyrics, he messed up his sur and sang the entire song without giving the right feel to it. Illa Arun and Udit again tried to speak about it, but AM didn't even let them finish their sentences.

I forgot the song that he sang on Independence day.Judges did criticise him to an extent for that performance, but not without lacing it with some beautiful words(hence confusing the viewers)

He is a good singer no doubt, but I do not buy all the praises that he gets everytime-regardless of how he sings. Even before he performs, you know what the judges have to say. Judges(barring udit) are not ready to accept that he falters too. His shortcomings are ignored rather conveniently and that's what makes him Overrated.

Moksya, with due respect to your opinion, I disagree again. Yeah, I do believe Anu Malik has a tendency of favoring his favorites but don't you think we all do? Being a judge, he could be more neutral but he can't help it i guess.

As for Amit's performance today, listen to the original track and compare yourself how much justice he has done to the song. Time and again, judges have pointed out the fact that live performances are extremely and mind you, nobody is perfect.Yeah, he did sing Nasha Yeh...brilliantly and yes he has benefited from the song. But he couldn't have reached this stage with a sole performance. As for Omkara, judges said wrong choice but I don't agree. He wasn't the best that day but he did justice to the song. However, his subsequent performance was a better one as opposed to your claim. He sang Yeh Jo Desh and he nailed it. He got very good comments for that.

Conclusively, he gets good comments because he truly deserves them.He is the most versatile singer in the show. He has a fantastic voice and an awesome personality to go with it. His song choices are brilliant. Can you ask for more out of a contestant? I don't think so.

Yes it was "yeh jo des hai tera" that I was talking about and nope, he didn't nail it for me. The emotion that you feel in A.R Rehman's rendition was almost non-existent. Patriotic songs should touch your heart first and your ear second. As I said in one of my previous posts, he sounded very mechanical.

I would also like to disagree that Amit is more versatile than any other contestant there(well let's ignore Ankita. She doesn't count). The two of his most memorable performances are "nasha ye pyar ka nasha" and "pehla nasha" and both are soft, soothing romantic numbers by Udit. The rest of his performances range from good to average to bad.
If a few amazing performances decide the greatness of a singer then i'm afraid every contestant is out of the world there. Even Chang has had a few great performances.

By overrated, I do not mean to say that Amit is a bad singer. He is indeed a good singer, but what really irks me is that judges are very easy on him..

Lets not be too biased. The original song "aap ki dua hai pyar hua" was sung by KK and I personally believe that song was sung much better by him than how Prashant sang today. And this song was from one of the most popular hindi pop albums.
If you listen to hindi pop songs, you must have listened to "Pal..ye hai pyar ke pal" which was the theme song of Indian Idol I and "aap ki dua" was the second best song of that album.

I also like Prashant very much, but I think he was one of the weakest today alongside ankita. But I hope he survives this round and will give knock-out performance in the next gala.

Mr. Mokshya, Amit has sung songs ranging from Kishore Kumar, Udit, AR Rehman,Euphoria,Sukhwinder, James, Soham and others and has done justice to each songs. As far as I am concerned, that is versatile quality. Also, if you pay close attention, Emon and Prashant are doing most of the numbers by Sonu Nigam. That easily makes him the most versatile singer in the competition. And again, if you talk about genre he has covered folk, pop, and rock. What do you have to say about that?

Amit and AR Rehman are two different singers. AR Rehman has sharp, high pitched voice where as Amit has coarse, low pitched voice with strong bass. So when Amit sang the song, basically he put in his personality and changed it altogether. However, as an audience what we need to care is how well did he carry the notes, and how good was his overall performance? For me, he did everything right in the song and it worked for me and likewise for the judges. Anil Kappor gave him an standing ovation for that.

Lastly, Amit's shortcomings are not ignored. If you are near perfect, then who would want to criticize? Whenever he has gone off note, the judges have always pointed out. Especially Alisha and Udit. I don't count Anu because he is slightly inclined towards him.
