Some musings.

Okay if Trafalgar had taken place, the brits would not have won because ......See the updated dialogue between Nelson & Hardy in "today's Trafalgar", below:

**********************
Nelson: Order the signal Hardy.

Hardy: Aye, aye sir.

Nelson: Hold on, that's not what I dictated to the signal officer. What's the meaning of this?

Hardy: Sorry sir?

Nelson: (reading aloud) What gobbledygook is this? "England expects every person to do his/her duty, regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, religious persuasion or disability"

Hardy: Admiralty policy, I'm afraid sir. We're an equal opportunities employer now. We had the devils own job getting 'England' past the censors, lest it be considered racist.

Nelson: Gadzooks, Hardy. Hand me my pipe and tobacco.

Hardy: Sorry sir. All naval vessels have been designated smoke-free working environments.

Nelson: In that case, break open the rum ration. Let us splice the main brace to steel the men before battle.

Hardy: The rum ration has been abolished. Admiral. Its part of the Government's policy on binge drinking.

Nelson: Good heavens, Hardy. I suppose we'd better get on with it. Full speed ahead.

Hardy: I think you will find that there is a 4 knot speed limit in this stretch of water.

Nelson: Damn it man! We are on the eve of the greatest sea battle in history. We must advance with all dispatch. Report from the crows nest, please.

Hardy: That won't be possible, sir.

Nelson: What?

Hardy: Health and safety have closed the crows nest, sir. No handrail, and they said the rope ladder doesn't meet regulations. They won't let anyone up there until proper scaffolding can be erected.

Nelson: Then get me the ships carpenter without delay, Hardy.

Hardy: He's busy knocking up a wheelchair access to the fo'c'sle Admiral.

Nelson: Wheelchair access? I never heard of anything so absurd.

Hardy: Health and safety again sir. We have to provide a barrier free environment for the differently abled.

Nelson: Differently abled? I've only one arm and one eye and I refuse even to hear mention of the word. I didn't rise to the rank of Admiral by playing the disability card.

Hardy: Actually you did sir. The Royal Navy is under-represented in the areas of visual impairment and limb deficiency.

Nelson: Whatever next? Give me full sail. The salt spray beckons.

Hardy: A couple of problems there too, sir. Health and safety won't let the crew up the rigging without crash helmets. And they don't want anyone breathing in too much salt - haven't you seen the adverts?

Nelson: I've never heard of such infamy. Break out the cannon and tell the men to stand by to engage the enemy.

Hardy: The men are a bit worried about shooting at anyone, Admiral.

Nelson: What? This is mutiny.

Hardy: It's not that sir. It's just that they're afraid of being charged with murder if they actually kill anyone there's a couple of legal aid lawyers on board, watching everyone like hawks.

Nelson: Then how are we to sink the Frenchies and the Spanish?

Hardy: Actually sir, we're not.

Nelson: We're not?

Hardy: No sir. The Frenchies and the Spanish are our European partners now. According to the Common Fisheries Policy, we shouldn't even be in this stretch of water. We could get hit with a claim for compensation.

Nelson: But you must hate a Frenchman as you hate the devil?

Hardy: I wouldn't let the ships diversity coordinator hear you saying that sir. You'll be up on disciplinary.

Nelson: You must consider every man and enemy who speaks ill of your King.

Hardy: Not any more, sir. We must be inclusive in this multicultural age. Now put on your Kevlar vest; it's the rules.

Nelson: Don't tell me - health and safety. Whatever happened to rum, sodomy and the lash?

Hardy: As I explained sir. Rum is off the menu! And there's a ban on corporal punishment.

Nelson: What about Sodomy?

Hardy: I believe its still allowed, sir.

Nelson: In that case - "kiss me Hardy"!

**** The End ******

Grace and swagger of a hardy, fearless matador eh?..my, my!!..the imagery that conjures!! :-)..You seemingly would have me see red!! :-) As to the knack of averting knife edged, sharp "horns", that surely goes to the list of latent talents no? :-)

The adventure week is indeed planned as an after exam "shindig" so we can relieve stress by screaming our lungs out as we fall out of airplanes, into crevass and swing from tree to tree (the things I get myself into with a wee bit of peer pressure :-))

Right, I better get going..Tuesday's and Thursday's are horrendous with a slew of five classes to get through.

Till the morrow sire,

B/Maila,

Goodness me, long time no see! I trust that all is well with you and that 'Ameri-Kharka' has lived up to your expectations. I must admit that I do miss infectious banters - might as well pop in to have a wee look at the Chautari lot! Take care.

***********
Yes, the fearless, matador with a soaring testosterone level! :) Thank you, Hemingway! :-)

Good luck with the adventure week - a lot of planning would have gone into organising it. Is this your first stab at something 'adventurous'? Really good news.

Busy day ahead. Till whenever, cheerio.

Done mapreading and stuff whilst young in school eh! High school memories are always precious, aren't they?

Goodness me Anon,

How good to "see" you again..kaha bepatta ho? since when did you also start forsaking your virtual friends to go play footsie :-)!!. It's good to hear that all is well with you. I see you are still stuck on this "fish business" of yours, but, well..as long as you're entertained re kya! :-)

As far as the exams are concerned...I need all the luck I can get at this point :-) I knew Law School was going to be a killing experience but I am seriously sick and tired of spending almost every waking minute in the blasted library these days....It's just books, books and more books..but then again, what else would you expect in a library right!!:-)

Commandant,
Hope the day wasn't terribly busy..but, then, you have the weekend to indulge in some hedonism no? :-)..ah but the wings and halo hod steady I'm sure!
As to the adventure, I have dabbled some in that arena..did the normal run of rafting, hiking and even bungee jumping in Nepal (It's a resort called "Lost World" on the border with Tibet that is operated by an Aussie company) but this is the first time I will be jumping into a crevice and swinging from tree to tree ..all on the same trip :-)

Have a good weekend gentleman :-)

Just popped in to say hello. Ekshtrimley b-jee madam! More so in the last couple of days - check this link to see why: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/4901830.stm

and this one as well: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/in_pictures/4902628.stm

So no 'hedonistic indulgence' obviuosly! :-) So, done bungee-humping already eh! Gleaming. Lost World - the name rings the bell; I must have read about the place elsewhere. I hope your prep is coming along fine - good luck. Hey no more wasting of your time in Sajha hai - you've been warned! :-)

I have got to shoot off for now. Take care.

Anon,
My apologies mate for being rather tardy but I have been so bogged down with things in the last couple of days. Hope all is well with you. I have got to shoot off for now but rest assured, my woffles will follow in due course. So, no worries. :-) Dyaaamm, sheesh!
Goodday mate!

Hello Sire,

I presumed you had your hand's full with the trappings of Sandhurst tradition in the graduation ceremonies. I am spending every waking moment in the library these days (and still here, as I write this)...but yes, I will heed your warning :-)

I will tred in your foot steps and do a bit of a dissappearing act myself till May 12th or thereabouts but I may check in every now and then.

By the by...lap dances with mates for the Prince eh?..and "no hedonistic indugence" you say!!:-)

Have a good week Sire, hopefully it isn't terribly arduous as these things can often be.

Anon,
Dissappeared again have you?..Hope all is well with you.

Right,

I know I've been warned to stay away and I will..promise :-)..but, I couldn't pass the chance to throw this in...I know the Ball is on Sunday so I presume your dance card is full and beauty regimen is in full swing in preparation for the pomp and circumstance of it alll :-)

Have fun--although, I dare say the wings and halo may prove a tad too difficult to manouver around whilst your Foxtrot and "Cha-Cha" your way through the evening!

Till later Sire,

Not an ideal time to do this small-talk given the numbers of serious threads Sajha appears to have been inundated with of late what with news back home but this reply has been long time coming.

My apologies as always Madam - I am the worst correspondent you have ever known. I can assure you! This plus I have just been back from a long Easter break. And besides, my net-surfing is limited to only when I am at work - no internet at home! So, rest of the time - busy doing outdoor stuff mostly. Very 'soldierly' eh! No, no - no footsie playing kya! :-) The halo, the wings and the ivy ringlet, you see - I have got to hang on to my customary 'sainthood' pedestal or the 'fair Ellen' from S'Tle will be miffed to bits and will batter the living daylights out of this poor ol' Lochinbar with the endless volleys of her vayanak verbal fireballs! Ahem. :-)

How are you? Burning the midnight oil/still slogging away at the library, no? I meant to wait until the 12th next month but thought, a wee reply won't pose any major distraction in what must be a terribly stressing time for you, revising coursework. Time must surely be of the essence. My best wishes again.

Hey, does one's canoodling with those bottom-grinding damsels down town constitute a worst act of 'hedonistic indulgence'? An act of treason? Whatever but let's say no more about yours truly's Byronic proclivities! We all have them in some shape or form, don't you agree? :-) So, better leave it at that - will come in handy during your jaunt to this drippy part of my sansaar! The last few weeks have been most stressful - oh, plenty of waltzing, tangoing, fox-trotting too and I must admit to being the least adept in the 'Cha-Cha' quarter, mind you! More dos and enough damage has been done already to the overly sensitive metabolism! The cholosteral scale aka MAS has been tipped massively! grrr.. More marathons - way to go eh! :-)

Okay enough for one post. Till whenever madam.

*************
Hi to Anon too. Hope you're reading this with a big gaping green on your anuhaar. Dhyaam... I miss your posts. Hey, where on earch is Scarlett these days? Swept away by some tsunami in a 'love' ocean somewhere perhaps! And SITARA? Frankly it feels so daft without her presence in Sajha - I miss her stories sorely. :( I might as well start another of those 'maanish haraayeko suchanaa' thread! Howeaboutthat? :-)

Good day Anon. Take care.

canoodling with bottom-grinding damsels down town surely meets the requirements of 'hedonistic indulgence'! An act of treason? not yet :-) but I am glad to know about your Byronic proclivities!...a straight shooter with the halo, wings and Ivy ringlet make for a rather "blah" personality!!..."Fair Elain" would rather that you gave up the mantel that you have so jealously guarded :-) What a most welcome break from the rigours of exam prep--it's a pleasure "seeing" you again sire!

So, a rather eventful week it seems to have been - what with bouts of footsie (in spite of your most voiceferous objections--I know they were in abundance :-)), tango's, foxtrot's and then the above---my, my, you must be tired :-)

For my part, yes, exam prep is full swing- can hardly wait for it to be over..summer has work and one class in store in for me, but, I hope to catch up on reading and some of the visiting exhibits around town to remind me of the continual existence and evolution of the world- outisde of the four walls of the library!

Ah yes, the London trip--I sent in my application for admission just yesterday so a few more formalities remain to be taken care of but, if things go according to plan, looks like I will be in the drippy, dreary Angregi Mausam in December :-)

I have got to shoot off for now but do pop in when time permits...it's the antidote I desperately need to get me through this drudgery of exams! :-)
********
Anon,
I can see you grin from ear to ear...feri malai "fish business" bhancha!..Kaha bepatta ho? Busy playing the silent observer I see..I hope all is well with you.
Catch you after my exams hai.

A most welcome break for the sleepless-someone this end too, pretty Fair Elaine! :-)

Well 'footsieing' and tangoing will never make his spirit wear off - oh yes! Time for the witty-fiery-feisty one to find that out for herself! Ahem. Morning.

Popped in to say hello. Glad that the exam prep is in the full swing - I know, you'll pass them with flying colours. Hey, I am taking time reading your posts in other threads on immigration issues/AIDS in Nepal etc. Always enchanted by the ferocious wit - you know that of course. Oh this is why they call someone a walking encyclopaedia. That plus passion and wit of a 'volcanic' proportion - all rolled into one! Volcanic eh - hmm... now is that Queen's English or what? :-) The name 'fair Elaine' may well have to change to something fitting and hip - I'm thinking! :-)

I have got a busy day ahead. Hey, check this one here:http://www.sandhurst.mod.uk/queen/index.htm

The pics will hopefully prove to be the antidote to the 'drudgery' you're having to put up with! Till later.

Hello again Sire,

Yes, I can see the smiles...what can I say, the volcanic eruptions seem to get the better of me!

You give me far more credit than necessary sire, the threads on immigration are really a way for me to help in some small measure since as I've said there, there are several lawyers (read: Liars) who have taken Nepalese to the cleaners and I'm not willing to sit idly by and let that happen, as for the AIDS threads, now that is my Parent's influence. My parents had a non-profit in Nepal through which they did some fabulous work with commerical sex workers and people living with HIV/AIDS..the social awareness component was a huge thing in my house....so now, you know where the volcanic tendencies come from :-)..blame my parents..it's the genes...and I didn't get a say on the matter!! :-)

Running off to the library again, so I will catch you later..time permitting.

Have a good day..and a restful weekend..no more Byronic indulgence for you this weekend hai!...everything in moderation :-)

Right, I honestly think, I can do something tangible on your Nepali ह्रस्व दिर्घ! :-) Why not come and attend Mahendra Maalaa 101 at University of Life with the Professor Emeritus at large - world authority on the organic matter of human behaviour commonly referred to as 'footsie' phenomenon! :-)

Hey, let me put a stop to this non-sense bantering before I incur another round of verbal confetti being thrown my way by Chakku et al! :-) How are you?

Have a good 'cramming' day.

Anon,

Your posts bring with them a never ending spell of giggles and laughter..so good to see you again..feri dissappear garne hola ho?

Ani Nepalli Ji re?..please...you make me sound like I'm a budi amai..latthi tekne type! :-)

So you did make the trip to Bondi--I'm sure it was filled with "scenery" of various shapes and sizes!! :-)

As for Nepal, I had planned to go there over the break myself...but with the way things are going, looks like I may make that my graduation gift and go next year over the summer..hopefully, the madness of the KG will have come to an end by then and things will again have the semblance of peace the country once did...let's hope so.

As for Sandhurst in Harry's grad: you were looking for the non-angregi officer re?..kaha paunu ta..yeso..shining armour with wings and halo po khojnu parne ta..Sandhurst ta "saint" Sandhurst po ho ta!! :-)..(read above posts)

It's always so great "seeing" you! :-)

Sandhurst,

Morning' Sire,

Mahendra Mala eh?..funny you should say that because I actually had my foster brother send me the same text book he uses for his school!!...he's in the 4th grade and that's exactly when I stopped learning Nepali as a subject...so..yeah, borderline illiterate as far as reading/writing Nepali is concerned.

I went to boarding school (along with my sis) when I was four and the school we were in offered Nepali as a second language but then we moved schools and ever since then, any Nepali I know has been self taught....not much progress though...so yes, I may have to enroll in this Mahendra Mala class with the Prof. Emritus in all things footsie!! :-)

Off to the library again....I'm quite fed up of this routine

You have a good weekend Sire :-)
