DC-girl, I was commenting on your words..I would but only for falano falano reason, that is most common in majority of us. Regarding Sitara's question, its hard to determine who is preaching and who is practicing. But as it is common among us to talk more, act less and forget about it, I was mentioning the general trend, ofcourse there are exceptions but they are too little to influence change. The change in outlook has to come, society needs to be educated to get rid (albeit systematically and in a proper way, not in haste) of all those evils that will hamper its progress. Thanks DC -girl for the invitation, I will patiently hear you and support your endevors to bring a change, even though I may not be strong enough to initiate one by myself.

Hey D.C and Sitara awesome points! Pisces, u sound like a typical tory grandfather.... if somebody falls in love it's because of their personality not because what his/her family does or belong to?? Yes, I would marry a pode, sarki, gladly if I really would fall in love. U are unknowingly discriminating people in your society. Yes, if u believe it or not there are prostitutes who have a family, boyfriend(most of the cases they are forced to do it because they are extremely poor and has to take care of kids).... and secondly there are lot of AIDS infected people who got married after they were infected. Not everybody has a narrow mind! Dear, if u haven't been to america then don't judge about white guys here! If u think everybody in US are rich then u don't know a thing. Yes, there are very rich guys but also very poor too. It's the mentality and personality that counts.........u don't marry somebody just because of money. Unless u do....Rich people aren't that dumb bro.....it's not that easy pisces... Pisces the "curse" u are using tells u what kind of a orthodox u are! U aren't able to accept the gay people as normal then u have a lot to learn buddy! MUSLIMS aren't ****** ...PLEASE! To understand on (going to IRAQ and marry Iraqi) this matter, I 'll give u an example, just a few months ago I saw a documentary about how a Iraqi nurse fell in love with the american soldier.....despite his job restrictions (and boy military restrictions are extremely strict) .....he married that girl ....he left his job for her....think again! Do know what real love means......try it at least, not everybody is like u! This is why u need to change caste system which is to remove the classifications within our society!

DC for your information.. Don't just lurk around sajha forum , sneak around somewhere as well, then you will learn..Below is one out of my collections.. Discard the article if you already read this..And BTW, I am Citizen (its been a year) here,, literally an American..I think I shouldn't have problem whining about America and American as you guys don't have problem whining about Nepal and Nepali . Ok go ahead and read this article. Washington, September 14: Authorities targeting of people because of their racial background or religious affiliation is a deep-rooted problem in the US, with nearly 32 million people, including Sikhs and Muslims reporting they've been racially profiled, a human rights group on Tuesday alleged. The report by Amnesty International US also said at least 87 million people one in three in the US are at high risk of being victimized because they belong to a racial, ethnic or religious group whose members are commonly targeted by police for unlawful stops and searches. Racial profiling is a growing problem as the government has expanded its war on terror, the report said. Police, immigration and airport security procedures are the areas where the problem has gotten worse since the September 11, 2001, attacks, it said. Citizens and visitors of Middle Eastern and South Asian descent, and others who appear to be from these areas or members of the Muslim and Sikh faiths, have become more frequent subjects of racial profiling over the last three years, the study claimed.

MAHAN NARI HARU, I haven't heard anywhere at anyplace, that not marryin a girl/guy of different race or ethinic group is racial discrimination. Rather I think , its individual choice.. If you are talkin about discrimination, everyday you are discriminating somebody regardless of race and class, in the one way or the another.. It is not as easy to pratice in real as to comfy your ass in couch and write big time philosophy.. I wrote what I saw and felt, I am not trying to be critics and throung my nonsense fantasy..If I am not able to bring that in practice, why the hell should I act like Mahatma Gandhi.. Sitara Ji and Sweetie Ji, let me ask you one thing..Ever in your life hadn't anyone been discriminated? Are you guys so perfect to treat every individual equally? Look within your family, you guys may able to find some clue? People like you scared me a lot. I have seen so called intellectual people who write like you gals and always voice against voilations of human rights..But in real they are in first row to voilet even basic rights of individual.. I don't want to put name here - One women who runs Baal Adhikar Sangathan brought one 8 year old kid from her sangathan as house maid. he used to do everything, wake up early in the moring to collect water, clean house, wash clothes and what not. And he doesn't go to school.. Sitara and Sweetie thats what is in practice. That lady was good on throwing big time lecture..and she has awesome writing skills as Sitara..But look what was the real picture? Isn't this DISCRIMINATION. One Badhra Bhaladmi, like you ppl was Chairman of some Dalit Jagaran Foundation. One day I went to his house to fix his computer and he was having lunch with his family.. I saw little guy (tharu house maid) in sitting in hall way (not even in kitchen) and was having dinner and their dog was lurking by his side..Isn't this DISCRIMINATION? Hello, I know what is discrimination..If I oppose intercaste marriage for my own sake doesn't necessary mean I am racist. It is my interest

Dear Pisces: Please do not lose your cool, this is supposed to a discussion. "Personal choice" prodded by prejudice is discrimination. Your attitude, which is your personal choice still remains a prejudiced one, sir! Has it occured to you that we oppose discrimination because we have seen a lot of it; your citing examples of "educated people this and educated people" supports my views precisely. While refering to "those other educated examples" you yourself fall smack in the middle of your examples by white washing discrimination with "personal choice". It is high time that social awareness came. If not you and I, then who? Are you so opposed to societal change that you are raving and ranting out here in the forum. Do we need to tabulate the "good things" that we've done in practice to convince skeptics like you...naaaah, I don't think so. We might "scare" you further! And ofcourse, noone is forcing YOU to marry against your will; But, perhaps you can help by being part of the society which supports those who do it! *********************************** Kalekrishna ji: I agree with you that education is the key to iradicating discrimination. However, if educated people like Pisces ji condemn those very people who raise their voice( allow me to copy his tone and voice on MAHAN NARI HARU) education has failed miserably.

See what happen when we talk about discrimination.......everyone start arguing with each other. Whoever came up with the castes discrimination sucks big time manýdiscriminating someone from your own society is annoying...or any other human being on this earth. Now-a-days even animals got their right. How a person view thing depends on how he/she was brought up and in which kinds of society he/she was grown up. Well people are getting more educated nowýthey know that castes discrimination is wrong. But why are they not standing up against it thený.thatýs because majority of the people in Nepal is still illiterate and the discrimination of castes has already been implanted into their minds since from their childhood. Looking at this situation I say minority who are educated alone canýt bring in much changes if the person is living in a conservatives society. There are lots of people who say one thing and do another. Here I might be writing against the discrimination of caste but in real life if somebody ask me to marry someone from the lower caste then I might be in a dilemma. Coz nobody like people pointing finger at you and outcaste you from the society. But I also truly believe that whoever had wrote something against discrimination on this bulletin are the one who at least does not discriminate caste even thought they canýt fight back or go against it in reality as they are all nailed down by the society and that include me. To bring a huge revolution on the castes discrimination we need the government to announce openly to the public and by showing some good examples that the discrimination of castes has to be eradicated in this modern world. What I meant by examples is that the government should be the one who should go to the houses of lower castes people and sit & eat with them in order to send the message to the civilian that we are all equal and etc etcý... But will they do that. When somebody marries someone from another race then they will never say anything.... even though he/she doesn't knows how to speak Nepali or knows any cultures of Nepal. Instead they will look-up to that person saying that "Wow he /she married a foreigner". Even the parents will accept it, which I have seen few cases that have happen. Another thing, which I also realised, was that there was a communication break down within the family. Coz the parent doesn't know how to speak English and the daughter-in-law or son-in-law does know how to speak Nepali. But there are some cases that they do make an effort to learn Nepali...but still the communication gap will always be there. But if we marry a person who is from a lower caste from our own society then it would be a disaster, as it will lead to the end of the relationship between the parent and child. What the hell wrong with marrying someone from your own society with a different caste or lower caste. Isn't it better than marrying a foreigner.ý.at least he/she will be able to communicate with everyone in the family. He/she will also have the knowledge about the Nepali cultures and will not have difficult to adjust to the new environment after they got married. The task of eradicating of castes discrimination is difficult but itýs not impossible. But first we have to literate the majority populate in Nepal so that they too can see things from our point of views and as the years goes by the castes discrimination will definitely be erased.

See what happen when we talk about discrimination........everyone starts to argue with each other.....!!! Everyone is just expressing their feeling from their own point of view.....that's no such thing has right or worng.....coz it's also depends on what kinds of situation you are in. If somebody say something, then it might be logical for him/her from where he/she stands from but it might not be the same for the other person who is in a different circumtance. So stop pointing finger at one another. Anyway whoever came up with the castes discrimination sucks big time manýdiscriminating someone from your own society is annoying...or any other human being on this earth. Dear Mahakal, A black person is called "A black person" not nigger anymore. But they do say it inside yes but not like nepali people saying "kami", jyapu, pode who say it loud and clear right front of the face. If u say that in US not only Black people will kick your ass but white too...Yes, by the way US has racism issues but no where near compared to Nepali one! There is no objection in a white person marrying a black, asian girl. Nobody says that he/she can't drink the water black or asian people touched. Even though US is 20 times bigger than Nepal....we can't hear black or asian women abused, burned alive by white men! The society (present generation) is open to change and many young people are really really open about it than previous generation...they accept the fact that white people(their previous generation) were wrong and are open to new society unlike you guys...who think even though Nepal has this problem we should keep it like that?? If u are bringingthe topic about the ku klux klan.....then yes there is a very very minor group(remote state). But u can't judge it to white people in majority. Majority lives in the same neighbourhood as black, asians. And yes martin, black panther fought for their rights.....that's in work now...blacks have more and more power.....how about nepalese who are discriminated? Just because they won't speak against it doesn't mean they are happy and not discriminated! Pisces, u seem like u are intimidated by us naris hmm....so far I guess u were only used to with the coy and "sati savitri" naris right? Time has changed bro....we are able to disagree with u guys at anything and have the right to bring forth our views. There is nothing that we lack than u education, jobs, brain, skills....I bet Nepali men were afraid this would happen when they send naris to school therefore resisting so much still not to send a girl to school. GET USED TO IT! It'll get tougher and tougher for your type of YUVAS". It's wrong that US government is targeting people with muslim decent in this country after 9/11 I don't argue about that. And BUSH is getting criticized big time. But his excuse is that it is necessary after 9/11 to make sure nobody in the country will try to revenge. But it's the government not citizens. It's the same citizens who go to protest against BUSH and majority don't like his policies.... And Pieces bro, nobody is perfect not u not me, but I have never intentionally tried to judge others because of their cast, religion, their family and will never try to judge. It totally depends on a person....u have the control over your own doings...nobody in my family ever discriminates......but rather get discriminated.....being a newar! GOT IT! Yes, there are people who take advantage of the being a human right advocates....mostly in Nepal but that doesn't mean everybody is like that.It doesn't mean we should stop trying.....!

Hey keep rocking, I don't agree with your one point......Marrying a foreign is bad?? U must be kidding right? U marry somebody because u are the one who wanst to spend the rest of your life with him/her not our family. If u don't wanna marry a foreigner because u are so concerned about oh how my family's gonna communicate (who probably meet 1 or 2 times a year) then better think through. The problem is u have to be lucky enough to have parents who doesn't discriminate a foreigner son-in-law. Even if they do, u have a full right to choose your life partner....it's u who has to spend the rest of your life with him/her not your family. I have an american husband and believe me there is no problem. My parents can speak english therefore they can communicate whatever they want. Even in the case of non-english speaking parents....they can express and u can translate but it's insane not to marry that guy just because they can't communicate! Actually u learn about each other's culture and be appreciative of another culture and way of life. MARRY FOR YOURSELF NOT FOR YOUR PARENTS!!!

yeah right.sweetpie a black man is not called a nigger in public in the metro areas like people dont call a kami in kathmandu in public. now going outside the city area it is the same dont blufff.southern part of america aint very famous/infamous for nothing.like wise you cant judge every nepali because of some stupid bahuns and some others.it exists in nepal and it does in america.and almost everywhere in the world. when a whote man is talking to a black man the he uses the word "black man" but whena white man is with white man the that black man changes into nigger. nepal is bad ,america aint clean neither.

Sweetie Pie -- What about calling Biralo Bahun? do you call SARKI a PANDIT and PANDIT a SARKI ? No right. Be logical.. Just bashing with words can't justify your point. why u have problem with everything, you curse somebody not marring girl from some other cast, now you are opposing what they are being called, you can't stand somebody writing against America.. Sweetie.. you know what, don't bother to write more...Let nepali be what they are..We are happy this way.. We are happy to be ignorance, uneducated...its not really bothering us.. U have so many glitches towards Nepal but you don't want to bring any changes. so whatever is your concern tell alll those to your American Husband...May be he will tell you in American way PRICIPLES and IDEALOGY about human rights and activities..

Hey pieces, don't put words in my mouth.....I started this thread because I was concerned and wanted to make changes. Just because u are happy being uneducated and ignorant doesn't mean others are! If u simply choose to ignore the difficulties and discrimination of other people then be it! Stay put! Don't do anything, stay ignorant! Who cares! I hadn't expected anything better from u either! But don't stop others who wants to do something! U just don't have to insult my husband pieces to get personal. He is an activist and has done a lot for Nepal....who understands nepali problem in a nepali way! You don't even have 2% of my husband's brain......so tell u what! Keep quite.... eating your masu bhat.....telling others "kami" and "pode"....happy now!

Really Mahakal, people don't say "pode", "kami", "sarki", "jyapu" in public?? where have u been all these years? Even school boys/girls makes fun of a newari student with an accent as "jyapu", same with others. I am not bluffing....ask anybody southern part where klu klux are ....is where only whites live( like kentucky,OHIO). It's a very small group and government doesn't support them. Ohio, kentucky aren't considered famous or developed cities, people aren't the most educated, they are very religious and conservative compared to eastern and western parts like New york, boston, california etc. Well there are lot of stupid bahuns there then ha?? Not all bahuns but there are plenty of bad ones to make this obvious that there's a discrimination in society! Remember 80% of Nepal is bahun......ofcourse they wanna be superpower......after all they took over kathmandu from newari kings and made them one of lowest castes remember? If u come to the US major cities.........there will lot of black and white friends dear with no sight of "nigger" feeling in their brain. But in one or two states in south where slavery system had rooted are still getting used to with the idea of slaves taking over whites. But majority of ameicans get along well........USA isn't clean either but Nepal has to catch up by 70 yrs. to reach the level of USA!

And Jai hoos to your American Buda. You are right, Nepali ain't close to 2% when you compare American brain with nepali..Apple to Apple.. Hey don't show your split personality, you were the one always bashing about Nepali Society, Nepali People and what not and praising American and their shit OK... In every freakin thread you are like this, so annoyin. I just iterate your words by saying we are happy to Ignorant and Uneducated , just to put you away.. I know I am goin to get another reply but I won't bother further.. Jai HOOS hazur ko...If you really want to discuss give me your phone lets have debate in the matter..hehehehehehe

Not only u pisces, mahakal and clickerclick find me annyoing too. What do u guys expect from a debate? Everyone should accept with your views??? It shouldn't be annoying it should be challenging! I see all your typos 3 men ganging up against me.....thinking u guys can make me embarrassed and prove me wrong? Done that seen that boys.....prove and come up with the points not anger!Bye better luck with a debate next time..... And u mahakal, even though u are kirat calling someone jyapu isn't okay! U are still discriminating someone...according to u,"a sarki is born sarki you cant help that but that doesnt mean to feel he is a tallo jaat or inferior. " Well your line itself describe what u think of lower caste people...I don't need to explain. Why are bahuns a separate matter? They are the main matter! bring it on! That's where this topic starts from! Kami can walk along with bahun but they can't work or have a same status in a society like bahun! If this is your mentality..change can take I don't know how many zillion years to come!
